I have no idea why the Hovercraft museum ended up at Lee on Solent, (except, maybe, because it had the space and was within 20 miles of where the modern hovercraft was developed).

The modern hovercraft was developed on the Isle of Wight by Saunders Rowe from the designs of Sir Christopher Cockerel, so Wikipedia tells me, (and from what I remember).

Also the Museum is on the site of HMS Daedalus, which was used by sea planes, thus had a large ramp into the sea...

Other then that I am as wise as you are about it's location...  ;D

Who is this new Global Moderator with the large number of posts?
The Freedom 90 doesn't use the bottom of the slipway, it came in yesterday at low tide and uses the lower part of the beach until it gets to the high water mark

I've just come back in from the Marina. Took the boat out for a spin for a few hours. Get's rid of anything growing on the bottom, until she comes out in the winter :lol:
