The Cookie Box MkII - On stranger tides
« on: September 07, 2009, 23:19:23 »

Hello everyone.

Due to technical problems, we unfortunatly lost a topic. And one of the most popular at that.

Apologies for this tragic situation. And I hope we can continue our lighthearted chatter in this one, the Mark II version of the Cookie Box.

Sorry everyone! I feel really, really bad!!  :'(

Regards,
Fred :)

I had to make a new one, WM didn't want to be the author.

And I just wanted to tell you that. And since the topic you just made then hadn't really got a purpose, I removed it, as you would soon see this one.  :)

Fred.

Is this for real, Fred, or is someone experimenting with this 'humour' thingy?  :o

This isn't the first time this has happened to a topic I take it?  :o

Such weirdness happens mostly if one has IE as browser - if it crashes you can lose a post as well as topic or even account.
I can't see how a web browser will cause a whole topic to crash and certainly not an account. But this is one of those rare occasions when I'm not an expert, so I'll be guided by you on this one.

Where did you learn this?

Indeed, it's not the first time. I reckon it won't be the last either.

Hmmm... I'm not convinced that IE crash could do it, but you never know  ???

But what if the problem is there, a database glitch, whatever, and the problem causes the IE crash.. and not the other way around?  :-\

I've had exactly the same symptoms when interrogating a .php server...

It was Her Majestys Government website, so if it crashed- I won't lose any sleep. ;D

The National Weather Service confirms wind damage in the Enumclaw area was caused by a tornado.

No injuries, it up rooted a couple trees, and tore some houses apart.

First tornado we have ever had touch down in the state.

Speaking of tornados- was that Philipino ferry caught in bad weather?

I can't believe that every enthusiast here hasn't already had a stab at identifying the cause yet.

No idea which ferry you mean Stu.. haven't seen any news.

And good thing no one was hurt, Austin. Shame for the people having their property damaged though.

It was the WGA superferry 9 in the philipines

http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_8240000/newsid_8240500/8240507.stm

Credit to the company in the way they handled the situation afterwards and apparently all the crew remained at position until the passengers were off the ship and the crew only abandoned the ship when it was obviously too late.

However, do not look at google and type in anything like "philipine ferry accident" or similar as it will give you 'quite a few' accidents or incidents over the past 22 years. One website quotes a somewhat high mortality rate for their passengers, although this is not a government website with authenticated figures, so I will not repeat them on this forum. Anyone who is interested will be clever enough (  :-\) to know where to look...

The National Weather Service says a significant weather advisory is being issued for Central Snohomish and Northern King counties until 5:15 p.m. PDT. A storm moving east from Granite Falls has the potential to produce a funnel cloud.

Lovely...
