I must say they should move that ridiculous drinking age a bit down over there in the US, 18 like here sounds fine.

I won't be here from tomorrow till Sunday, I'm off on a 3 day walking expediton.  :2thumbs:

If I was allowed to do it on my bike, I would do it in 2 days or less, but never mind.

See you all on the other side! (It's my birthday on Monday so I better not be late back!)

Its weird....your allowed to drive at 16/17 in the states (which means your could break all sorts of laws/people) but your not allowed to drink until your 21  ???

Wheres the sence

here we get to buy cigarettes at 18, alcohol at 18 and drivers license at 18. Although it's normal to do all that before anyway, so doesn't really matter than much, never ask me for proof when I'm in the liquor store(we only have a about 6 liquor stores here). Also good news, the health ministry in Denmark has finally made some sort of an approval of my driver license, I'll be taking the tests as soon as possible.

Over here you could do the lottery at 16, but that was changed to 18. Everything is 18 - drinking, smoking, gambling.

You are allowed to apply for a provisional license though when your 17. But there is talk of you having to do something like over 100hours of driving lessons now before you can do your actual test.
So at £25 a pop, thats parting with (gets out calculator) £2500 just in lessons! Not forgetting the cost of provisional licenses now stand at £50. Then there is the test itself theory & practical which is an arm and a leg. Couple that with insurance for a learner driver - in the region of about £1500 to £2000 - and of course road tax at £120.....

I've told my 12yr old brother to start saving now

I did have to laugh though

My license cost me £36 quid and my lessons were only £20 (i only had 6  8)) My insurance was dirty cheap because i was under my mums name on a 'road-going go-kart' so it was cheaper than chips tax wise too  :2thumbs:

There should be a single age at which you become an adult, at that age you should be allowed to make your own choices should they be about drinking, smoking, sexuality, morris dancing, joining the army or drugs with the understanding that you have to face the consequences of your choices as an adult.

Agreed, it's your life you should be able to decide what you do in it without loads of 'you cant do this' and 'you cant you do that'

I personally think that this whole thing with ie, Flight Companies, charging adult prices for people under 18, is wrong...18 should be the age you become an adult, with everything. Not just when it suits some people.
