I think Vstep have switched NAUTIS to use the same engine as SSE (albeit without the bugs). I don't think Vstep will release anything as "open source", infact I'm surprised they know what the words "open source" means.
I know that a bunch of people tried to get Vstep to add a ship into SS08 and Vstep said it would cost ~£20,000
SSE and SS08 were/are dumbed down versions of NAUTIS. Besides, NAUTIS only just scraped the lowest DNV classification for simulators, so it can't be overly complex...
You're actually very wrong abouy that.
SS08 is the basis of Nautis but cannot even be compared when it comes to the entire product other than it looks roughly like it, and SSE is a totally different programme, engine, everything. And Nautis hasn't switched to it.
And instead of putting Vstep down, maybe they deserve a little respect for earning the qualifications and awards they did with the 'lowest' form of professional simulation, although they arent scraping the bottom at all as Luc also pointed out. Whatever you may think of SSE, Nautis is doing really good.
But then again, it would require an objective view of things and knowledge of what is really going on, to make that distinction.
So have you ever even seen or tried Nautis or actually read up on what it's doing in it's own weightclass or seen how complex it is or is not? I think not, given your rather uninformed and silly remark.
You might wanna tone it down a little kiddo, you don't know half as much as you seem to think you know, and ordinarily that is fine, but when you start insulting people, it's not and that seems to be a road you're taking a lot more these days.
Frustration about a game you'd like to be different is one, but if you really have no clue, don't just say whatever you THINK is going on. Cause you're not only wrong, you're very rude in the process.
