Mystic Seaport
« on: July 16, 2009, 01:06:38 »

Well,

As many of you know I have been developing the SS Sabino,  Fewer of you know that the SS Sabino is only a few miles away from me.

But, None of you know and that I am going to see the director of Mystic Seaport tomorrow afternoon.

Yes you heard right,  For all of you that never thought that the SS Sabino Project was ever going to move anywhere, you where wrong.  I am planning to bring my laptop along with all of my videos with me.  I don't quite know yet which ones I am going to show the director and some other board members that are coming to see me, but I do know that I am going to mention Ship Simulator.  The only reason that I have not been working on developing my parts of the Sabino for Ship Simulator is because I have never contacted anyone at Mystic Seaport about the Sabino.

So, Know you know.  I just thought that you might what to know that where this project is going.

Wish me luck,
  Nick

I hope so too 'man', ;)

The Director told me that his meeting would not be all that formal.  I sure hope that this is true.  I have not prepared anything as far as a speech goes so cross your fingers.

Well,

Today turned out better than I could have hoped for really.  It started out wit my being a little bit late because of an accident on the highway that slowed me down somewhat.  I gave the seven people at the board meeting my whole vision for what could happen with The SS Sabino and Ship Simulator.

As a whole every one at the meeting loved the idea of having the SS Sabino worked into Ship Simulator 2008 or Ship Simulator 2010.  I think what really impressed them was that I did give the entire meeting a demo of ship simulator 2008 with Cornwall and the Furie.  Little did I know that the thirty year captain of the SS Sabino was one of the board members sitting next to me.  Not only was he speechless while looking at the renders of the Pilot House and the details.

Imagine my luck after the meeting when the Captain offers to take me aboard the Sabino for a VIP tour of the Pilot house and systems.  After the tour at the pier,  I was taken aback by his asking if I would like to pilot the Sabino myself.

So there you have it, I piloted the 101 year old ship up and down the Mystic River!!!

Now I have to get to work on the Ship Simulator Models, ;)

Wow. You sailed the ship? That's amazing.

Glad your meeting went well. Sounds like it was a fun meeting instead of a formal thing.

Congratulations Nick, you should be VERY proud of yourself. It looks like you might be getting the ship into the game, all you have to do now is try and convince VSTEP that it should be included.

Hope you didn't crash the 101-year old into a bollard or something ;D

Cheers,
Adam

Last time I was aboard the ship hit quite hard on it's starboard side when docking, and I did a better job than that.

Don't get me wrong though the Captain was very experienced with piloting his ship.

it means a lot more work ahead for you  :2thumbs:

Yah,  I told them that... :P
