Hi Capt. Matt

There are no specifications yet for SS2010, so that question cannot be answered.

But a GeForce 6 series is probably not good enough, that much I suspect.

Best go for 'as good as you can', with a new pc, as that gives you the most possibilities, for the longest possible period, given a certain budget.

Fred

I can't say much about that.. Even in my own country prices vary so much, that it's hard to compare sometimes.. So no idea about yours..

I usually shop around, compare prices when I want to make a purchase, since it changes a lot of course, I just check websites and folders from the local pc stores.

I'd say make sure your processor is a good step forward, RAM and graphics card too... as big a step as possible, within your budget.

Try to avoid certain 'packages' that they sometimes offer, at least over here it is better to pick and choose the right components and have the pc store assemble that for you. And if your old pc still has good Hard drives and you can transplant them, you don't need to spend money on that yet, perhaps, leaving more money for the more crucial components..

I took a look around and customized a cheap pc, and got something like yours for around 700 dollars us. No printer or monitor though, so I'd say you're getting a pretty good deal. The one i put together is smaller hard drive, same processor, same ram, and a better video card. 706.00 US at tiger direct. I'd say you did pretty good :)

Also, I don't know about quad core...from what I am told, most games use only 1 of the cores, even if you have 4. I could be wrong though.

It isn't here.

No, wait! Yes it is.

I just found some. They call themselves "dollars", which I assume are the same thing. Is that right?

if it were me i would wait until minimum spec for ss10 is available, then buy something much better, to avoid disappointment. if you buy cheap pc you could end up regreting it. i do understand you have a budget, so not easy task.

I would suggest that if you want it for Ship Simulator, then do as Second Mate says.

But don't assume that anyone knows what the next version of Ship Simulator will require. The requirements are not yet defined. Anyone who posts anything is just guessing.

By the way, in that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrmXIRpn0ho) video the phraze: "Do you have what it takes?"  - What does it mean?
Something like: "Do you have enough powerful pc to run SS10 which takes too much resources from it?"  ?

I think it means something like "Can you meet the challenge of the game ?"... ;)

quad core and 500 gb of memory should do it if it comes down to a graphics card that is a matter of 100 us dollors. Which I can afford

You mean 500GB of Hard disk, I assume? Make sure that you get a good chunk of RAM, though. On a 32-bit version of Windows, if you get 4GB, then windows can see about 3.6GB of it.

Any extra is wasted. But every usable byte is worth its weight in.... money, I suppose.

And make sure that your graphics card isn't one that "shares" (by which they mean "steals") any of your PC's RAM. Even if you start with 3,6 GB, you can get down to less than 2GB quite easily when the card gets to work on high-intensity programs like Ship Simulator.
