Nope.  :-\

Sinking a player ship = game over.

No workaround, no trick..

That's not from a mission then.

A mission can only be achieved if all the player vessels stay afloat.

Hi dudwasup,

You should study the Missions Manual and the Mission Editor Tutorial for information on sinking. Both can be downloaded from the top topic in the Missions board.

A mission is over when any player ship finishes sinking.
If you have a second player ship, you might be able to finish before the first ship goes all the way under, or hits bottom, but only if the first ship has no unfinished waypoints.
See Play > Missions "Disaster at Bergen"
.

Marty

I've never tried sinking a ship, since my natural instinct is to not to that.

But, from memory, isn't it possible to set up triggers that sink specific AI or Static Vessels? If so, perhaps that was the source of the images in those videos.

Or am I wrong?

I don't know if you can sink a ship in a mission without damage. I think you can use the cheat code. hit the tilde(without the shift need), just a tap, and enter sink quickly, but not to quick, and it will slowly sink and I don't know if that will do that.

I never pilot the ocean star and never give it waypoints.

Gentlemen,

Instead of this endless speculation, Why not learn how Ship Simulator works by studying the documentation.

Matt, why do you insist upon pontificating upon things for which you have only uninformed guesses?

You're right Terry, you are wrong. Only player ships can be sunk by a trigger.

I've posted pictures of player ships sinking from time to time—it's very easy to do.
VSTEP has provided you with Jan's mission where you can watch the VLCC sink.

Thanks, Marty.

I thought I might be right that I was wrong. There was of course the possibility that I was wrong about being wrong and therefore was right. But I was wrong, and therefore right about that wrongness.

I'm glad you've helped me to clear that point.

There is really nothing to speculate that I am aware of: He is trying to recreate a video I have on youtube. (I have the screenname "Mewtario" there because I had no way of using my screenname here.) He also sent me PMs on this. What is shown in the video is all I actually did. Somewhere in either setup or excecution is being overlooked or forgotten here. I'll add additional annotations, just in case.

I updated annotations so hopefully more will be made clearer. Watch the video again (keeping annotations on, of course), and see if you find anything you missed or misunderstood before.
