but does anyone know how to make ships on google skecthup? cuz i sure don't
Well CC, it takes time and practice, I'm not expert when it comes to Sketchup (You need to ask Fred, he's the SU expert "in these here' parts"
). Here's one of my Models, the Charter boat, Monarch:
If your interested in starting to make you own models (Or Model in my case
) You need to be dedicated, and have the time, its not something thats going to happen over night. I started off with this shell, and after a few weeks, I managed to get a basic version of the current "Monarch".
This is what I started with:
(Basic Hull)
(Basic Wheelhouse)
What I will say is, you'll never be finished with any project, there's always something that you'll find that would be "Nice here, nice there" this, that, and the other
Also, for me, friends were the key too, people like Minime and SA taught me how to render, and taught me how to use SU, from there, I've eventually found my own way around, thanks to their help. And, thanks to Fred for those lovely renders he made me, I'll have to upload those!
Oh and, when your starting off, try making alterations to something on the 3D Warehouse:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/
By doing this, you get the general feel of how to use the software, don't "Jump the gun" by start a scratch build, the best thing to do is start small, and work your way up.
Also, Sketchup isn't your only 3D modelling software, BUT, I will say that Sketchup is probably the easiest and less complicated piece of software, if your comparing it to others on the market. Also, the "Basic" Sketchup (which is what most of us have), is Free, the costly one offers more, but is very expensive for the difference's that you get.
So, I'd say, start with the Basic Sketchup (Free), work your way up from there, then, if your become a professional, or you really enjoy it, maybe start saving for something better
Good luck! And if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask..
Jack.
p.s. I forgot to say, there are many tutorials on Youtube which explain how to use the various feature's of Sketchup, use them!
