Goodbye, Lighthouse Interactive.
« on: March 24, 2009, 10:50:17 »

Dutch/Canadian videogame publisher, Lighthouse Interactive has officially been declared bankrupt. A spokesperson pointed out that due to the demise of its parent  company Silverbirch Incorporated and the bankruptcy of its largest debtor Pinnacle Entertainment, Lighthouse was unable to carry on.

Lighthouse Interactive was sold to SilverBirch Inc in 2008 and was a wholly owned subsidiary. The company was best known for publishing many critically acclaimed PC titles including Ship Simulator, Sword of the Stars and Overclocked.

The Lighthouse personnel would like to thank all business partners, press and its customers for their support over the past years.

Looks like, Ship Sim 2010 left without publisher...

Don't worry about that too much. There are plenty of other publishers willing to publish this game I can assure you.

Just because one company has gone bust, it doesn't mean SS won't continue. Please don't let this be another thread about SS not being published!  ::)

Hi guys,

It's very unfortunate, but the World will keep on turning, and SS10 will be published one way or the other.

Ohhh dear :-[ :'( Credit Crunch claims yet another company :-X

Well, all I can say is, I hope the staff find new jobs at another company/place easily :-\ And its a shame that they cannot be with us to publish the new SS.

Yes, as with you Jack, I too really hope that they can find a new job. I really hope today's economy gets a lot better soon. A company in America (I don't know about the UK and any other countries) Called "Circuit City" went bankrupt a few weeks ago. They were just like Best Buy.

I can't see the economy getting any better within this year, and probably not next year either. I can't see how we can really get out of it with any actions, so far, nothing has worked. I think its just a waiting game unfortunately, and I think we may be waiting a while :-\

It isn't bad for everyone, though.

I/my organisation have several thousand clients. Only two of them have reported a slowdown and even then not by much. Many of our clients are taking on more people.

We are using this opportunity to acquire other businesses and properties, as prices are so good. We have more than doubled our workforce so far and I still need more people (we can only train a small number at a time).

Really? I thought they were still going... Oh well. They had said it anyway, so it's not like they were unprepaired for it. The thing is that when these large corporations go out, they bring out all of it's imployees, and that's why people soon are going to be begging for jobs when/if more of these large companies go under.

Good for you professor to see that you are thriving your business :).

I heard of that store once. Maybe that's why it went bankrupt ;D. Not very popular. Or, maybe it is very popular and I have just never been shopping there ;D.

Lighthouse Interactive had a great number of games, Along with what this forum is of, Ship Simulator 2006, Ship Simulator 2006 Add On, Ship Simulator 2008, Ship Simulator 2008 New Horizons, Ship Simulator Collectors Edition, Ship Simulator Professional, and now Ship Simulator 2010 Extremes. I hope the game won't be changed with the new publisher. I wished Lighthouse Interactive stayed if they didn't go bankrupt.

Matt they are only the publisher of the game. In other words, they sell the game to all the retailers (or shops) whereby people like you and me buy them. They do not control what games VSTEP create, only the way that they are published :)

it seems that some places are going broke(bankrupt) or closed or shut down for good. but I think a publisher in between Europe and America(ex; france, spain, ireland, united kingdom, united states) would be the same as LI(Lighthouse Interactive) with a few changes. So I now think everything will be fine with the new publisher
