She's either the Alpena or her sister ship that I conveniently forgot the name of.

I'll go with Alpena.

This is the Edwin H. Gott:

What two things make her a unique vessel on the Great Lakes?

 ;)

Edwin H. Gott. She is the most powerful ship on the Great Lakes, generating 19,500 hp with two diesel engines. She has a self-unloading boom on deck that can be extended to shore to discharge cargo at a rate of 10,000 tons per hour.

Have I really asked that question before?

But yes, the power of the ship is correct, but what is the second identifying characteristic? Here's a hint: it has to do with unloading.

Yes, but what about it? Pretty much every ship in the Great Lakes has a self unloading boom.

That must be the SS Delphine  ;)

I know that ship From the S.S. Ricotta which is being made for VSF by Kyle Hudak (Hudizzle) who also made the VS Titanic. Ricotta is based on the Delphine.

Who knows this one?

hint: It's owned by a college.

Is it OK to answer if I don't want to pose a question?

I did a trip on her as second engineer.

That's alright, just say her name and then it's anyone to go..(things are pretty slow here anyway)
I imagine it must have been quite an adventure sailing on her.. :)

It certainly was, she is the RMS St. Helena, the last true Royal Mail Ship in existence (i.e. one that delivers mail rather than is allowed to use the name).

The Island of St. Helena is a British protectorate in the Atlantic, the people of which are a bastardised collection of Africans, Portuguese, British, Spanish and French.  The mix seemed to have worked well though because as a race they are some of the friendliest people I have ever met.

The ship sails from the UK to St. Helena to South Africa, calling at continental Europe, Ascension Island and West Africa on occasions.  She is operated by Andrew Weir Shipping on behalf of the UK government, she was initially manned by mainly British officers, but Andrew Weir have trained Saint Helenians and they now make up the majority of the officers and crew onboard.

She rolls like a pig!
