What was this ship's first name, subsequent names including the present one and what was she most infamous for?

Interesting stern near the waterline - perhaps they fitted her with azipods?

No azipods, the "duck-tail" was later added to aid her stability.. :)

One of the reasons she was infamous, she was known in maritime history as the "Worst Roller of the North Atlantic" ;)
But perhaps you mean an unfortunate accident that occured under an older name..

Ok, from front to back: Athena, Caribe, Valtur Prima, Italia Prima, Italia, Fridtjof Nansen, Volker, Völkerfreundschaft, Stockholm..
On July 25 1956, as the Stockholm, she collided with the Andrea Doria..It was one of the most famous maritime disasters

Shame that no one could get that!  Or they were as usual working, studying, sleeping, etc.

I'm sure it's the RMS this one (http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/yacht-transport-ships-dockwise/8995-special-feature-dockwise-685-yacht-express.html) or that one (http://www.superyachttimes.com/editorial/16/article/id/2147)!.

I very much doubt she is a Royal Mail Ship..
But she is indeed the semi-submersible Yacht Express..
Here's an interesting link about her..http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/yacht-transport-ships-dockwise/8995-special-feature-dockwise-685-yacht-express.html

Last Sunday, this ship collided with another containership..
Thanks to quick action, she was able to be towed into port where she was moored today..
