3-D animation of MV Bro Developer
« on: February 26, 2009, 19:48:29 »

There's a nice website which has a 3-D model of BRO DEVELOPER, who is a regular caller to the River Clyde in Scotland. You can view the highly detailed model in 3-D film and in 3-D rotation as well.

http://www.brostrom.se/Shipping-/The-vessels/Fleetlist/Sweden/Bro-Developer/

The details are so well done it would be nice if this vessel was made available for Ship Simulator, don't you think so?

Nice ship, but it resembles the Agile pretty closely, doesn't it?

Yeah it does look a bit like Agile Solution but without the cranes.

I think BRO DEVELOPER is a tanker for chemicals/oil products, while Agile Solution (which is very closely based on DEO VOLANTE) is a multi-purpose frieghter.

Huh? Agile Solution / Deo Volente (which you also see alot on the river Clyde) is a multi purpose vessel for dry cargo. The Bro Developer is a chemical/product tanker. They transport liquid, often dangerous, cargo. Those 2 types of vessels are completly different from eithother and cannot be compared.

Sorry, the only comparison I was making was to size, shape, and displacement. The question was about the Bro Developer being added to Shipsim, and my OPINION was that it wouldn't happen, due to its similarities with the Agile Solution. I think they'd try to get more classes of ship into the game before they go into nuances between similar vessels.

No need to say sorry  ;) The Bro Developer is quite bigger than the Deo Volente. The Bro Developer has a length over all of 148,5 metres and is 11344 gross tonnage. The Deo Volente has a length over all of 105 metres and is 2999 gross tonnage.

But i think it would be nice to see such vessel in SS, because we dont have a medium size tanker yet. Especially one with azipods  ;D

No need to worry  :)

In fact there are a couple of ships in Ship Simulator which looks a bit familar and doing the same idea of their respective roles, they are:

Fast Motor Vessel (Rescue/Pilotage)
Pioneer
Arie Vissier
(they are like Ant & Dec - I can't tell them apart. The UK folks will know what I'm on about! )

Tug
Bugsier 2
Igor K.

Harbour Patrol
P6
RPA12

Cargo Lift
Agile Solution (I have seen DEO VOLENTE carrying huge unassembled wind turbines on her deck as she sailed up the river Clyde - lovely!)
Jumbo Javelin

The point of my original posting is that the 3-D model of BRO DEVELOPER is done superbly, well up to the high standards that VSTEP would demand.

That's a very nice & accurate model. Wish we could have such quality (maybe) of modeling in future SS.

Who ever said that she's close to Agile Solution?! Beacause it has a superstructure on her aft & dark blue hull?  :P

To my mind she's close to Bro Atland, Stenstraum or Fure Nord

The Bro Developer reminds me of the new vessels of Tarbit Shipping (Bit Flower, Bit Viking etc etc) i guess Swedish company's like to have the same looking ships  ;D

Only too bad creating the model of the vessel is only a small part of all the works that needs to be done  :-[

As I can see that Bro Developer has an azipod.   +1 point to the popularity if she (or something close) will be in SS

+2 popularity points Diamant, 1 point for each azipod !  ;D ;D

Whoops, haven't seen the video first. Although, the back of the superstructure looks a lil'bit "empty"

Yes, you're right, well spotted! Maybe they were hoping no-one would notice! (a quick 'Google' revealed that there should have been something at the back of the superstructure)

Shipping companies worldwide will be trembling in their boots when the eagle eyes of Ship Sim forum members are swooping on their website, scrutinising the 3-D models of their ships!!!!  :police:

True - most of the fun probably went into the 3-D design, the dynamics data are another matter..........

I think that earlier or sooner here will arrive Mvsmith, informing us about that how much work is involved to get a ship in SS, does that model meets the SS requirements etc etc etc, as usual!!!  We're getting straight to that moment!
Trust me, modeling a ship for a ship simulator is tough work () If they have enough detail and everything else that is needed (I imagine the ask for a TON like sea trials reports and all that). THen they can add her with permission.

Thats quite a nice model! Although, I think maybe for the next version, if V-STEP take an interest at all, not SS08.

Whatt??  ???

lol  :P

It allso has two schottels, and the Deo Volente only has one propellor and a rudder.
Wich makes it a interesting ship to manouver, and different from the other ships.

I really miss a medium sized tanker in shipsim.

Yes, as far as I am aware of, VSTEP has probably stopped working on SS08 and moved on to more important things like SS10

Totally agree!!! ;D

This one is quite different in any ways, except both are ships ::). And it makes sense to have such a high-safety-tanker for the game and for the training within the upcoming pro version too. There are a few comparable tankers afloat with a double hull structure and an independent double engine system to avoid any danger whilst enroute fully loaded. Beside that, we have lots of terminals for berthing in almost every environment.

Cheers

Yes, indeed!

This ship would be a great addition, biceaus, like Bottman sais, we have terminals for tankers in allmost every enviroment!

And the Lattitude is to big to reach those terminals.

A mouse allso looks very much like a horse if you compare the Agile Solution and this ship  :P
