Does this mean that some star lines will be closing down?

Yes it does. At the moment, Rainbow Star, Orange Star, Sunset Star, and Green Star are gone, to make way for the new company.

Diamant - Titan is owned by the creators of the star lines, there will be no 'sister' companies. I think most users would agree with me that the star lines started to get a bit crazy,  we wanted to take most of those companies offline, and streamline, making one forum with little extras perks and information.
RMSGB- Thanks for the support. I agree fully, all the extra companies with few members and fewer posts could be streamlined for easier use, namely into Titan!

UPDATE- Titan will take over the BSL servers starting tonight at 10pm Norway Time. At startup tonight, Titan will be operating 4 servers, this number will grow to 10 by the end of the week, and as our new server PC comes online, there will be the capacity to handle 16 total servers, all to help you better. Please check out Titan Shipping and our MP Servers, and let us know if there is anything you would like to see....ie environments or ships in a specific server....thanks

Good luck with it :)

I don't want to rain on your parade, but having 10 servers would mean that people would be all over the place, instead of in one server like they used, to, so it would be less active  :-\

Thanks SA. What would you suggest? I just want everyone to have options on ship and environment combinations that you won't find on any other MP servers. Plus, we won't run the second pc for about a week, and then there will be testing for a week.....just we won't have any downtime like we used to....
RMSGB- Blue Star is owned by Kapn Jonah, it's not going anywhere. This is just another cleaner option, and currently, Titan Admin TJK is operating BSL's Servers. That will end at 10pm tonight when they become Titan Servers.

Diamant, I can only speak for the new server pc I am building now, but I assure you that it will be adequate for your needs. 2xpent4 mb, 6 gb ram, with a T1 line, and it is exclusively for ShipSim MP. I will have this online within a week. In the meantime, TJK will have his new server pc open for Titan as of 10pm tonight.  Thank you for your input, I am sure one of our servers will reflect your interests.

I don't mean to sound, whats the word...."Funny", but, Don't you think its a bit sort of "taking over" To advertise that you do everything, tugs, cruise etc? Insted of focusing on what your team members are good at?

For example, I don't have my signature down there just for the sake of it, it means something to me, going back to the old Marseille days etc. If I said that, I do, Cruise shipping, cargo shipping, trawling etc. that would be a bit "Taking over" Type thing (In my eyes)

But thats just my opinion, good luck with it! :)

Jack, we tried to do that with the Rainbow Star Lines, I owned GSL, the tug branch, and it was a completely dead forum. We just feel that this is the way to attract all users, with all of the available ships and services. Thanks for the well wishes though....

RMSGB: You didn't know Green Star didn't exist because it didnt. I bet he is just making it up for you to join his site. And whats rainbow star?

I once got banned on one of these silly virtual star line topics once. I'd hate to get banned again or ruin the surprising high spirits of this one, but one question:

Whats the Point?

Maybe that is because you need people that have the tug interest at heart  :)

Gloat, in the interest of being adult, I'll just make a few points.
1 Green Star did exist, if you look on Blue Star, or Orange Star, there are still links to it.
2 I don't fish or pm to boost membership. All I did was advertise here in one topic.
3 Titan isn't a star line. As to you getting banned, I don't know, but I bet you broke a rule.
4 The point is for those of us who enjoy such things to have a place to talk about it. If you don't enjoy it, that's your business, but why come here and complain about it?
Thats all I have to say about that....

Jack, I wish there were more. Every time I'm in MP, there are always people in tugs looking to help out. If they would come to the forum and give feedback, just tell us what they'd like to see in MP, and we could make almost any event you could think of. I wish there were more of us interested in the forum end of things.

Oh - so I am to take that this is for adults?

I apologise if the answer is yes.

Just remember not to make such a big deal out of it like posting it everywhere. I know people who get really annoyed -just a tip.

You know what Diamant? THANK YOU. Thats what I love to hear. The new pc should be fast enough with a T1 line to avoid much lag. The weather and time is something I hadn't even considered, but would be the next obvious choice in changes we will make. You should see that happen tonight. Unfortunately, I think that any more discussion about this has to happen at Titan, so the Mod's here don't get upset with me. Thanks for your input

Yes sir, Titan is run by adults, for adults. We don't discourage kids, everyone should get to learn, but we are definitely adults. Its ok for thinking otherwise though, I've seen plenty of what you're trying to avoid, and I spent a while doing the same thing, thats why I started Titan, to cut through all the kid stuff. And yes, this topic is the only place you'll see me advertise on the ShipSim forum. Thanks for the tip.

This is just my take on it, but

The reason why I never ever made my little hobby (towing) in any way official was because I thought it would take the "tradition" out of it. Its always really been remembed going back to Marseille (Multiplayer) and I would rather keep it that way, sort of, made a name for myself with towing back then. It was great fun, sadly now, its more of a novelty of the past, My signature, since the amount of servers, server software etc. has spread everyone about, meaning we aren't at one or two servers.

Back then, we'd all be at Marseille server, mainly in the evening, I'd sit along the harbour wall at North entrance and bring the Vermaas's in, there used to be that many players that they would be lined up outside the docks waiting to come in, I remember it well! :) Miss it :'( There always used to be members that would be there every day, like Fox, Rafax etc.

I think the important thing is, you really need to have basis on your company, if your going to make one, as in, it at one time/or does serve a purpose to the community, rather than saying that "I'm going to make a company" Out of the blue. Although, I never took it that far, as like I said above, Its more of a hobby/tradition for me. Ask a few of the members that have been around for a while, and you'll understand more about old Marseille hehe
