could someone resize this picture?
« on: February 23, 2009, 17:02:19 »

Hi people

I need your guys help. I've downloaded this picture yesterday but the size is a bit to big, so when I use it as wallpaper the whole picture 'folds' itself together.
So my question is: can someone make it to the right size for me? (p.s i dont know the size of my computerscreen)

thnx for your help, maritiem

Right click on desktop > options > there should be screen parameters & resolution of the screen (for example, I have 1280 X 1024 pxls). Then if now you know the resolution - there's a need to edit & resize the picture for that resolution

there is standing: 1280 X 960 is it possible that you could resize the picture to this size for me?

Hi maritime,

If you have either XP or Vista, you should have Paint—usually under Accessories.
It has the capability to resize the picture, and also to crop it if it has a different aspect ratio.
Both features are under Image on the menu bar.

Regards,
Marty

1447/960 = X/1280

X = (1447 x 1280)/960 = ~ 1929   ->  Your original picture should be 1929 x 1447. So in MS Office Picture Manager - cutting the sides to that resolution & resizing it to 1280 x 960.

(Very old mode, but I like it)

Is that algebra or?

Also, I quicker way to check your screen size is to go to http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com/

As Diamant has said, I think the easiest way is to right-click somewhere on your (empty) desktop.. :)

Of course, there was actually no need to re-size or re-sample it. You could have gone to Control Panel and selected "stretch" as an option for your desktop image.  ;D

Because I'm not permanently welded into this Forum. I've been working in London all day and only got back a short while before I posted. I have a routine that means I check Tech Support and other important areas first, then come to the non-critical areas.

Sheesh!  ???

Fully understandable!! If Firestar controlled his urge to post you would not have half the work to do TR!!

I dont have that option (well could not find it so) but the wallpaper fits perfectly now with help of 'DIAMANT'.

Another route is via Control Panel => Display.

I've enlarged it to 1280 wide. It was 1024 high, though, so I cropped it to 800. I assume this will be a desktop wallpaper?

By blowing it up, it looked a little jagged, so I've re-processed it to reduce that effect for you.

Seriously though, he now has a range of different sizes and see which suits his needs the best.
