What ship to model?
« on: February 21, 2009, 00:31:52 »

Hello everyone, it's "that time" again. It is up to you to choose what ship I am going to model in the event that the Wave Commander isn't accepted. Rules include:

 - Blueprints are preferred, in the event that there aren't any, I will model a lookalike.
 - Must be an actual ship, I can't model your fantasy ship that's 700M long.
 - I need reference material (Pictures etc)
 - Lastly, please no catamarans...

It will be up to you guys to decide. I will have voting on this also. In the event that there is a tie or not enough votes, I will choose the vessel myself.

It's up to you to decide, don't make me choose!

Well, First, they WONT show up from your C:\ drive. Upload them to an image sharing site such as photobucket (www.photobucket.com) then, on photobucket, look for a link called IMG code. Copy that and paste that here!

when posting, go to additional options- attach, then it's allways easier to attach an image that is on your computer..

Firestar,

If you're upto it, I can provide you with info for the Pride of Rotterdam. Of course I have plenty of exterior and interior pics, plus you can find layouts on the web.

It isn't hard to model, if you've mastered the bow. The rest is pretty much square and slab sided.

I have been told by one of my friends that if I dumped one of my projects (Volgo Balt, or SSUS) that I can get a smaller ship (Like a very small vessel) begun and completed, in time for the game, quicker than I could finish one of the projects. Please, I would like to know what ship (boat more like it) I should do, and what project I shoudl drop. If I get no responses, I will make up what project I dump, and what boat I start.

Ok, VB1, SSUS0. I want to do the USS Bainbridge.

But since she is a naval ship, that wont happen. And she is too large.

Well...Shane, if you like - Maybe I could help you with Volga Bolt, so you can concentrate on SS United States and your other new project?

Or maybe a nice ship, like the Jumbo Spirit:

It is smaller than the Jumbo Javelin, a whole lot smaller.

No, that's too difficult & boring for Shane.

How about the worlds unique ship Ostrea?  She was built in 1980 as a special porpose ship only for doing one specific project. And when the project was done, she was scraped in mid 80's as the she had no job after that.
She had a  П - shaped hul & 4 azipods.
what was she used for?

Thanks guys, thanks for the offer Jack, but Volgo Balt gives a lot of trouble, and I don't think that trying to fix her at this point would be very smart. I might use that first boat Diamant. Matt, that boat is almost exactly like the Jumbo Javelin. What are we trying to achieve in this game-variety, so I don't think so. I was almost thinking a classical yacht, or something. I almost went for the Wilhelm Gustloff, but decided against it. Small boats are gold for what I want people! ;D I really like that boat Diamant posted, I might in fact do it, I just wish I had more of something we don't have in the game, that people are dying for! ;D

Maybe. What do you guys think? Should I do this?

Or this?

If no one gives me a decision, I will decide by myself.

Here is the first render of the boat. Sorry Matt, it was just not going to happen. Without blueprints it is very difficult.
