It helps you to see who is more experienced in the forum so you may trust/respect them a bit more. But that rule doesn't always apply

exactly what I was thinking. It also helps identify who is new around here :)

Same ;D Gives you a bit of background if you post, it also shows a bit about your personality-usually posts reflect on that. Its also nice to have discussions about things, so thats why I like to post :)

So you agree that it is useful and helpful, but you still think it isn't useful?

It is a bit of a two-edged sword, on the one hand it does give you some background on who is new and who is "experienced"..On the other hand: I wouldn't like to buy dinner for everyone who only post to add to their post-tally.. I guess it all boils down to quality over quantity.. :)

Yes, some people may post just to try and boost the amount they have, but I don't see the point in that. I just post because I like to :)

Yes and there are very nice helpful people like Aad the Pirate who don't do an extreme amount of posting, but you can tell by their posts who is a respectable member of the forum

Post when its needed - I don't see the fuss about getting posts Up.

Once upon a time I asked on a topic for someone who could convert my models into VS for me, and I had a reply which said "sorry, I don't even have sketchup"

Funny enough to go into the "Joke of the day" topic.

Yeah, I hate reading unnecessary posts, makes an interesting topic uninteresting since there are too many useless posts

I've seen pointless posts like that before. There was something on cruise ships and someone just posted 'sorry Im not into cruise liners' I mean what the hek?

Surely no ones cheating anyway? what is this Ship Sim marathon 2009? ;)

I actually post quite alot, not because I want to say 'yay, I've got more posts than X' but because I like to cos this is a genuinly good community of people. I mean the mad, Evil and marmite lovers are everywhere but its still nice! ;D

I think it is useful to show how many posts a member has for that same reasons as Person264
