Maritime Movies
« on: February 06, 2009, 01:03:35 »

Hello all! New here, the name´s Sebastian, from Sweden.

So, to get on topic:

I was wondering if any of you now some good movies with a maritime theme, not military theme.
Both fiction and documentaries are welcome. What id REALLY like are tips on movies/docs. about bigger cargo ships, like dry loaders or bigger. non-english movies? sure.

Perhaps an odd request, hope you all can help!

This: http://cdon.se/film/hurtigruten_365_(no)-587948 (http://cdon.se/film/hurtigruten_365_(no)-587948)

seems to be highlights from a documentary on the Hurtigruten... in Norwegian, but with Swedish subtitles if you want... maybe of interest?

Do you know the show 'Iceberg Cowboys'? About anchor handling tugs off the coast of New Foundland. I guess you still can get it via various websites. I believe it was broadcasted by the National Geographic Channel.

Ahoy HiddenAdol,
First of all: Welcome to this forum.
Maybe this one is a good one too:
Hollands Glorie, or in English: Dutch Glory starring the Steam Tug Furie.
It was original a TV Series, But is now, again, for sale on DVD. Alas it's not subtitled. And what about The Onedin Line? Also a TV Series, but this time from the BBC. 8 seasons, the first 5 are now for sale (in Holland that is). Waiting for the rest. Each season contains 4 DVD's.
Regards
Aad
