Super Bowl 2009
« on: February 04, 2009, 00:58:29 »

Well the Super Bowl wasn't how I planned to see it. The Cardinals lost(I'm really a Patriots fan but still) The only part that was good to me after the loss was halftime. E Street rocked. I did in fact turn my TV all the way up when he said to ;D

Boooooooooooooo! Football Haters! Football is brilliant. To you americans, I am talking about soccer here. Football/soccer is one of the worlds few universals, and its a language that everyone understands. No other sport is so global. No other sport effects nations in such a way. People have been benefitted from football/soccer. West Germany, 1954, suffering from the disaster of the war, won the world cup, rejuvinated a nation, helped them become one of the global superpowers again. Argentina won the WC in 86, rejuvinated them from the disaster of military dictatorship and losing the Falklands war. Football changes nations, changes people, changes the worlds, Football, is a symbol of a united world. If you dont like football fair enough, But for us who do, it is a language that the whole world understands. And thats why football, is the greatest sport in the world, its a global symbol.

(Even if most top-level football players are overpayed bad word. Thats why the heart of english football is the middle and lower leagues, and yes, Ipswich Town (my club) are included in that)

I don't understand it. Something about kicking a sheeps bladder between some wooden posts or something, isn't it? Why not just flip a coin and leave it at that? It would save all the boring rubbish that follows. The few times it's been on the idiot box before I've managed to change the channel, it looks like muddy acting lessons for prima donnas. (EVIL ICON GOES HERE)

Sorry, I fell asleep during the rest of your statement....  ;D

PS, I'm English.

To be honest, I understand it completely (even the off-side rule and the FA transfer rules). That would have ruined the joke, though.

And I don't hate football. I just don't care about it. I tried very much in my younger years to get enthusiastic about it, like my mates. But it bores me rigid. All sport leaves me totally disinterested.

There are many things that I am deeply passionate about, but sport isn't one of them. Oh well...
