How to edit a wikipedia article.

I got a wikipedia account and found a couple inaccuracies in their Titanic article and wanted to know how to edit and article.

Oh you know what, It says editing is locked by new members until April 29, 2009 due to vandalism. Does it say that on yours?

Oh, Well I just ended up posting in the Talk section. The problem was, They got Titanic's length all wrong. It wasn't 882' 6". At what temperature? 7

If the length was measured at say freezing point and again on a summer's day in Blfast when it was 75F, how much difference would there be?

Which bit of Titanic was measured?

What measuring equipment was used?

Was it properly calibrated? (e.g tape measures stretch when used)

On what dates were these different measurements made?

All of these data are needed before anyone can claim to know the "correct" length, surely?

Being a guy, I would think you understand "shrinkage" in cold water...
  ("No..Titanic isn't allways this small...")  ;D

We are told not to use Wiki at school because anyone can edit it, but i still do. Most my essays are copy and pasted from there ;D

I used to be told that too. But its not like people are out there to screw up Wikipedia. In fact, More people are looking at IMPROVING Wikipedia rather than vandalizing it.

Firestar, how do you know that that information is incorrect? It happened 100 years ago! People belive different things about what happened and think other peoples accounts on wikipedia are wrong. So its best to keep away from Titanic pages.
