I don't know why but I thought the old newsletter said Q1 of 2009. :) I could be wrong though.

It did say first quarter of 09, but that was early in the development I think, and we are used to a couple of delayes so that we have to accept

Remember when the patch for ss08 came out, everyone was like awake at midnight and at 1 minute past midnight it was like WHERE IS THE PATCH OMG! Because it didn't come out at exactly midnight...

Yes, I had great fun, winding everyone up for the 1.4 patch. We had a countdown to midnight, just like at Times Square on New Years eve. I even had fireworks going up.

Heh heh. (evil grin icon goes here)

So,

I read on the SS newsletter that it will be released Q1 of 2009? And yet.. .we haven't even see a trailer yet! Or heard from any developer's since the newsletter was released a YEAR ago!

So... does anyone know anything? Any new, progress, new release date (like Q2) What. And yet.... should I be suprised that VStep are lacking off.... they not even keeping as posts anymore about the develpment, there's not even a SS09/10 board!!!! There was an SS08 board like the same day as it was announced!

Bon Voyage,

yea, there is a trailer as austin said, the game is in the works for sure and may or may not come out in Q1 of 2009, i doubt it will as the end of march is the end of Q1. I suggest you search the forums first  ;)

It is called Ship Simulator 2010 for a reason. VSTEP have other things to do right now.

I think the game will be released in Q4 of 2009, obvious the game is somewhat playable already otherwise the trailer wouldn't be released already.
But alot of beta testing and fine tuning, hey, we all want the best sim they can make when it's released!

seeing the poor support they give to shipsim 2008 i think they first need to do something about that before thinking about a new game.

If support is so poor then I wonder how so many tech support issues get solved. There's not many unsolved mysterys that you'll find.

And every game has bugs, that is getting a bit old, you've made your point by now..

And for support.. if you had payed more attention, you could have been assisted;

Some people are nearly impossible to help, Fred, either because they are not very bright, or they would rather rant than seriously cooperate in the process.

Daisai posted about a problem. He stated categorically that his PC was adequate. But then so have many others who have them been pleasantly surprised when I have diagnosed the problem and given them the fix.

After I asked Daisai to post his Dxdiag, he never bothered to respond. That could have revealed what his problem was. But as he never replied, there was nothing I could do for him.

As you say, Marty.... If someone with a problem won't join in at least a little a bit, there's a limit.

I think his initial post—
http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,12616.msg150458.html#msg150458 (http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,12616.msg150458.html#msg150458)
—along with subsequent diatribes in the same vein, indicate his mindset.  It seems a rather stupid way to seek help from volunteers who are not employed by VSTEP, and who often go to great lengths to help those who need and appreciate it.

so many tech issues solved and still not a patch to solve a few big bugs in the game that really make the game unplayable.

Example is the questviewer.exe crash and some major problems with seeing ships in different places then they really are.
Those are just 2 examples btw.

Questviewer is not the problem, that is just what reports it...

Those are the users pc's fault, not the QV crash.
My computer is over-spec and still I get the odd QV crash, so how you say it's the users pc's fault is beyond me.
Whoever runs a computer under-spec will most likely occur a QV crash, of course, but those who run a equal or over-spec computer still get QV crashes. :-\

I've installed all my SS exactlly by Terry's flowchart & now I can't remember when was the last QV crash in game, but after quitting the game I usually get that message of reported QV.exe crash, but that's normal.
I have installed my SS correctly too, and I still get odd QV crashes.
Well I can't say that when attempting to close a program you should be faced with a QV crash, but that's one way to close a program I guess..

The causes of QV crashes have been explained many times on the forum. An “overspec” computer can, in fact, be more susceptible to problems from over, or improper, use of AI in missions. This is beyond the control of VSTEP,  as missions are, for the most part, products of users.
