Mediterranean Moor at Beneluxhaven
« on: July 24, 2007, 05:13:32 »

Greetings,

So, I was really curious to test out the capability of the new anchor features so I decided to attempt a Med Moor at the ferry terminal at Beneluxhaven in Rotterdam(I knew there were bollards there ;) )

Overall i have to say i'm really really pleased with the results. I was able to move over to where i needed to place my port anchor, then turn to starboard while backing down to place the stbd anchor (Note the first picture the anchors stretched out and gave a good reaction to the maneuver).

Then i made fast aft, moving the stern from side to side to get the lines nice and tight.....where there is a will, there is a way...but it would be nice again i say it, to be able to heave up and slack out mooring lines and anchors.

Would love to hear some feedback from a developer if this is something they are looking at.

Thanks & Cheers!

Nice manoeuvre!  :D

Yes indeed, it would be nice to heave and slack the anchor chain and mooring lines. Same thing for the towing line, in open waters you can slack and in narrow waters heave to have more control over the vessel you're towing.

Nice Cloud!
You better make a movie of that.. hehe.. You should make a thread called "Cloud's School of Maneuvers". hehe.. Then you as a proffesional could learn us amataures a trick or two before the online game is releesed.. :)
Im actually also very pleaced with the new moorings and anchors. I tried to dock a boat with the foor spring (as you can do in real life), and it worked just as it should. It didnt work in SS06... Cool  ;D

Hi Redbeard,

Thanks! Actually I am really looking forward to the whole online idea.

As for tips and tricks....well, from what I've seen on your vid and heard you talk about, it's obvious you are no stranger to boats yourself... :D But I'll always be glad to share ideas and thoughts.

You know, i'm really pleased at the improvement of the mooring lines and anchors. I can't mention it enough times, however that one little thing, to be able to heave up and slack out on mooring lines will add so so much to this game. I mean, they have the crane concept included in the game, so i would imagine it's a matter of applying that code to the mooring lines and anchor chain....I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it will be addressed.

Anyway...i'd better stop saying it...or people will telling me to shut up already.....  ;)

Cheers

Hehe.. I agree with the mooring consept. If Vstep is adding currents and tidalwaters in a later version of SS, they surely should consider it. Then u could dock with the help of winches in tough conditions.  ;D That would be cool ^^  ;D
