Are these correct?
« on: December 29, 2008, 14:31:36 »

I was wondering - we have all these RMS SS MV MF MS and all that stuff - have I got them right?

RMS: Royal Mail Steamer/Royal Mail ship

SS: Steam ship/ sunk ship

MS: Modern steamer/modern ship

MF: Modern ferry

MV: Modern vessel

Correct me if I am wrong
Are their any more? add them.

MV = Motor Vessel, etc.

RMS: Correct except in one case where it = Real Mixed-up Simmer.

 'M' does not stand for modern. It stands for motor or mail, like motor ship/mail ship, motor vessel etc. And I dont believe SS stands for Sunk ship, just steam ship I think.

Training Ship. They are used by nautical cadets at nautical colleges and Sea Cadets (Sea Scouts) also use them on expeditions.
