Hi all,
very sorry if in the wrong place. But I was just wondering how do you make the icons on the side of your profile that say motorboat: rookie, go up because i have done a lot in free mode but they haven't gone up, so do you have to do it in mission mode.
Thank you
Tom
ps orry it doesn't make sense. :)

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the forum & happy holidays. Yes, you have to complete the missions in order for the rank icons to advance. Free roaming has no effect on them, to the best of my knowledge.

Captain Tony is correct, only succesfully completed missions will earn you higher rankings.

And a sidenote; you can see, in the mission overview, when you select a mission, how much completing it is going to advance a certain ranking. (In a lot of cases several rankings at once)

Hi,
What I didn't reliese is that you have to make a profile in the actual game, instead of quest, because I have improved my rank in the quest profile but it doesn't up date my forum profile. Or is there anyway of transfering my rankings.
Thank you

Are you writing on the forum on a differnet computer than you play shipsim on? If you are than try writing on the forum with the same computer.

Hi Tom,

Just like the ranking icons show you what a player has done in SS08, the money earned icon shows you what they have 'earned' in SS06.

Back then in SS06 there was no ranking system, but there was an ammount of money earned per completed mission.

So any player that has that displayed under their name, also plays, and has registered, SS06.

Fred

Hi,
Ok that is call. I remember when I first saw the plans for ss06 on the ship sim website, I was so excited and as soon as it came out I bought it, only to find it wouldn't run on my computer, I was the most disappionted person the the world. But I have got a new computer and ss08 runs like a dream and haven't though about ss06 since. would you surgest getting it.
Thank you

Hi Tom.

On the one hand, you could get it, as it can be picked up rather cheap now too.. And there's a lot of fun to be had with it, that's for sure.

But on many points SS08 has improved a LOT, compared to SS06, so you might find yourself playing SS06 and missing a lot of features or options, and this might be a little bit dissapointing too. I found myself playing it less and less, since SS08 is just the better one (obviously).

I cannot really tell you what to do of course, but if you're a fan of the sim, and have a few quid to spare, it will certainly keep you entertained for quite some time, if you can ingore the fact that it lacks SS08's features in some area's.

It does have some unique ships that did not make the transfer to SS08, so that's got to be worth something too I reckon. So in that case, I'd recommend it, yeah.
