Shipsim - OpenSource?
« on: December 17, 2008, 23:45:58 »

Is ship simulator OpenSource?  If so, where can I find the source code, it would be great to make a few "changes" to the game...   "Hint"  To Vstep.   :D

Hi RORDude (DJ|Jasper from over there)...

We wish it was open source! Or atleast allowed third party ships and such....

I like how nothing in Ship Sim could ever be changed or altered without Vstep's consent ;D

Recognize my screenname?

I am glad it isn't.

Biceaus now it is a realistic game.

And if everybody would change stuff, then all the effort of vstep to improve realism will be useless.

Go play VS if you want 3th party.
-->Just look at how unrealistic vs is.

Him Sam.

Although it may seem surprising, we frown upon people knocking VS. It's different, not wrong.

Similarly, Phil2 the moderator on VS doesn't permit knocking Ship Simulator on his forum.

So please keep it sweet. Thanks!

Yes, I was going to say that Terry. Both are just as good, both have their good and bad points.

Virtual Sailor is quite interesting. In the sence that, you can see your own work afloat, which is obviously harder to achieve at Ship Simulator. But at the same time, Ship Simulator keeps the professional factor, so, in a sence, Virtual Sailor and Ship Simulator are just as equal in their own right.

As you'll probably be aware we have recently set up a section on the development area that caters for people develping vessels for VS and other simulators.

So it is not a "daggers drawn" relationship.
