Hi landman, and welcome!

Do you mean in a mission?

You need more than one player ship for that. If you have two ships in the mission (or more), you can switch between them.

Hit F3 to open up the player ship icons in the upper left corner, and click on the icon of the ship you want ot transfer too.

So you can run them at the same time, and thus sail next to yourself, if you wish.

I hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the warm replies gents, Ive just bought I and finding it rivetting, the only thing (other than the other topic I raised) was how you actually create your own missions, when I open the mission create option it comes up blank and says that there is no missions to create!

  Ahoy Landman!

Welcome to the world of Ship Sim & the Forum!
As you’ve seen in (yet) small-measure, this is a really wonderful place (Forum), with a lot of very knowledgeable, very friendly and helpful folks.  (I’m not one of them, I think I may be the resident sponge).

I’m sure one of the Mission Creation guru’s will offer you plenty of help with getting started on Mission Creating.
In the meanwhile, I’ll take a little first step by asking whether you Do Have the Mission Editor?

If your copy of SS 08 was the Download version, you may not have it, and need to D/L it – though I’m honestly not sure where that is.
It does come on disk with the SS 2008 Add-on, New Horizons.
I Think you should have it if your SS 08 is Patched to v. 1.4.2
If your SS 08 isn’t up to v. 1.4.2 – it would be a good idea to take care of that as soon as able, which you can do here:
  http://www.shipsim.com/downloads/patches.php

Sorry – I’m just unsure exactly what’s meant by – “..when I open the mission create option it comes up blank and says that there is no missions to create!”

Opening what now?   :)  ..& what is it that’s coming up blank?

Again – welcome to the Forum!

  Best regards,
  Chrystine

Good evening from Detroit!

Hi Landman.

First thing to do is to register your profile on the forum (see Fred's list of useful links, above). Then, make sure that you have the latest version of SHip Simulator installed. As a quick check, start the game and on the opening menu it will say "build ..." on the lower lefthand side. If the build isn't 1038, you don't have the latest version installed.

This is where registering your profile kicks in. In the Technical Support area, you will find a flowchart, created by a real genius and totally handsome moderator, that tells you the order in which to install the various updates and add-ons for Ship Simulator. Follow that and you'll probably find that your mission editor works just fine.

In England, it is quite common to refer to young Spambot as chaps, Chrystine.

Personally, I prefer the term "Chapesses", but it's a matter of taste.

Weren't those referred to as "Chapettes"?  Or is that just down in London?  :P

   Hi Terry!  :)

While admittedly I wasn’t aware of that common usage in England, I was just kidding with Landman – I took his expression of thanks as all-inclusive.

An interesting note for the English usage, however…
Here of course, a ‘chap’ is always per definition ‘man’ or ‘boy.’
  ( ..Snobbish Americans, you know … )

  ;)

  Best regards,

Those of us what speak proper English use "chaps" only for blokes, Love. But some of them Sockney Toffs use it a bit different, Gawd Luvus.

It's them Northern geezers what uses it wrong, mostly, though.

My Missus is a Jersey Girl, so I know about Upper Class Yanks of course.  ;D  ;D

    Ha!  :)

  ..I love it!

I even rather miss ‘dreary ol’ London’ where my cousins live, whom I’ve not seen in ages…

&nd you Brits!  It’s all your fault – you got me seriously addicted to Ceylon tea!

  Best, as always -  :)

It’s called Sri Lankan Tea now, and it just doesn’t taste the same.

   O’ foo!

  I don’t like the way that sounds…
  That’s just not right.

  ‘Ceylon’ even sounds delicious…
‘Sri Lankan..?’  ..No… doesn’t even have the same luxurious sound.
  Fiddle-faddle!  Why don’t these modern humans learn – when something’s good & works – Don’t Fix it!

  Best,

When I was a boy (many years ago, during WW2) my father who was a shipmaster used to bring home Ceylon Broken Orange Pekoe tips in a lead foil lined wooden box.  The foil was great for making soldiers when it was melted down. Nowadays packing in that form would be totally illegal. However I'm still around so it can't have done me any harm. You would really enjoy it Tina.

  Hi Traddles!

  What a wonderful memory to have…  :)
Yes, I’m sure I really would..!

I’d love some superb tea right now in fact.
  I wish I had some.

Thanks for sharing that though… It does paint and conjure some very enchanting images.  :)

I joined R/V Argo in Columbo in1968, when it was still Ceylon. I visited a tea plantation and factory during our second stop—a month later—and can still remember the aroma.
It was a relatively peaceful place back then.
