It is whilhelm gustloff. She was a german cruiseliner during the war. In late 1944 she was going to evacuate the germans living in poland that was fleing from the advancing red army. She took as many people onboard as she possibly could. She departed from gothenhafen in a convoy but she was seperated from the convoy by several mechanical diffuculties. Her navigations lights was off because the captain was afraid of russian submarines. Then she got a radio message that she was near german mineswepers and she should roundable with them. The captain then lit the navigation lights, that was the last nail in her coffin. A russian submarine saw the ship and fired 4 torpedoes on the ship 3 found it target. The first torpedo hit the crew compartment. Most of the crew was killed. Without the crew it was impossible to make a proper evacuation of the ship. 10.000 men women and children died that night. 1000 was rescued by the minesweepers.

The reason the Gustloff took 11.000 passengers was the red army. The red army was very inhiman to the german population. Men was often shot without any questions asked. Women and children was raped then killed. The gusloff crew wanted as many as possible to be evacuated. It is a tragic story. It is the biggest naval dissaster counted in human lives lost.

Greetings,
About the area's on the 2006 version.Think about New-York.My idea is to extend that area al the way to the Ambrose lightvessel. One friend of me,who sailed the whole world, told me,before you reach New-York,from the east, you've got to passed this lightvessel. So if this area would be extended, the area gets bigger to sail in,and you could do the complete arrival to New-York.
Does this make sence.

Ohwyeah, that makes sence, mate! :o
That would be lovely. Like i said in an other thread, it would be great, if all the existing harbours would be extended to they're full sizes. Not only to have a bigger area to sail in, but to handle bigger ships as well, like the Berge Stahl and the big Oil-tanker from SS08!

I really support that idea - almost more so than adding a lot of new harbors - we should definately expand those we have.
