Same here as far as the real ones go, but I also set up a fake one in the house, just for that 'cosey xmas feel' it gives. The house looks weird without a tree, but
with all sorts of other decorations.
But I used to work in the warehouse of a company that makes christmas decorations, including fake trees, and as a xmas bonus one year, we got the top of the line fakey, and I swear, you cannot tell unless you go right up to it, I mean, inches. It even came with a bunch of spraycans with 'xmas tree smell'. (that ran out in the meanwhile of course, but worked really good.)
Got it now for, well, maybe 12 years, and it still looks as good as the first day. And it's not plastic, but a fabric of some kind. It's a pain to set up, as you have to take every single branch and extend and unfold it and make it look real. (it folds up in to a small bundle, but fully erect and unfolded it is huge)
I won't tell you what it costs to buy one of those, but be sure that I never would have spent that kinda money on it and am surprised at how high sales were. But as a bonus, it was very nice. In fact, all my decorations are bonuses, I worked there for 4 years, and got enough decorations out of it to last me 10 more years.
