I asked the guys on the TRMA about how much smoke Titanic should have, and at first, Bruce Beveridge replied saying that Ship Simulator 2006 had a more accurate amount, but then Scott Andrews replied later, saying that even though some ships occasionally have heavy amounts of smoke coming from their funnels, and that it is good for dramatic effect, in reality, less smoke is more accuate, as if there is heave smoke, incomplete combustion is occuring, which means wasted coal and cash.

So, despite popular opinion, less smoke IS more accurate after all, as that much smoke would not be released unless the boilers were really being forced.

But err... isn't that what many of us here, including a lot of people who have been around ships for most of their lives, have said on many, many occasions?

And a Diesel Engine should have a burst of smoke at startup and then die down, from to much fuel in the air:fuel ratio.

But after a few seconds the fuel injectors will fix that and the smoke will be minimal under idle.

Is there some examination process?

Or perhaps it is heriditary? Or congenital?

Titanic had 0 diesel engines but the other boats have diesel's. -.-

I put "Titanic TRMA" into Google. The first result explained exactly what the initials stand for.

When I first heard it was about the Titanic i knew it right off. I'm a member of course, That could explain why.

When asked on whether Ship Sim 2006 or 2008 had more accurate amounts of smoke for Titanic.

The TRMA includes MANY Titanic researchers and modellers, including Jason De Donno, and the three men who did the research help (two of which mentioned above), in addition to the TRMA as a whole.

So this was going against popular opinion on the TITANIC smoke issue.

on a diesel boat engine when you open the throttle all the way they usually smoke a lot and then it clears depending on what condition the injectors are in as austin said

Actually, the point I was making, perhaps not clearly enough, was that to wake up an old thread just to say exactly what someone else (Austin) had said previously, is against the Forum rules.
