Just to say Hi!
« on: November 15, 2008, 21:25:31 »

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hi. As some of you know im currently on board, we are now loading at the Tees (UK) for Ghent (Belgium). Just came back from our tour in the Baltic, visited some really nice ports in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Im almost at the half of my contract, on board now for 3.5 weeks or so and less than a month to go. Going home just in time for Christmas. Cant wait to get home and sail with the Jumbo Javelin  ;D

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind messages  ;D

I got home yesterday from Finland, first by car to the airport then flyed from Turku-Helsinki-Amsterdam. Had a great time on board, visit some really nice places but nothing beats home  ;)

@ Nathan; thanks for the awesome screenshots.

@ Captain Best; we went to Heroya, i dont know if that's the name of the town or only the harbour. We went sight seeing in Puttersgrunn or something, only 10 minutes walking or so.

The 'Dutch Faith' at the lock at Kiel, passing the Kielcanal enroute from Fawley, UK (known by the Solent players!!) to Naantali, Finland.

Bridge.

Bridge console.

GMDSS corner for communication with Inmarsat C, MF radio, MF/HF DSC, satelite phone.

With all the computers on the bridge, they still found some space for the chart table with the old fashion paper charts.

Officer's messroom.

Cargo control room.

Cargo control panel, all hydraulic valves and pumps on deck are operated from here.

Ballast and tank heating control panel.

Control room for engine department.

Main engine topview.

Main engine bottom deck view.

Auxilery engines.

Workshop for engine department.

Workshop for deck department.

Inside the ship, the 'voith space'. it's between the deck and the cargo tanks. Went there several times for inspection and adjusting the valves of the heating system, no fun in crouching there!!  :P

Last not but least, the most important place on the ship. The galley. 7 day's a week the chief cook makes breakfast, lunch and dinner for 14 souls.

I'm currently on the Dutch Spirit, the sister ship of the Dutch Faith. Good ship with a happy crew, time flyes!

Went swimming in Teesbay. Survival suits come in pretty handy if you decide to go swimming in april!

Woooo!! Woooo!! All aboard, the float train  ;D

Got a visit from the RAF on our trip from the Tees to Antwerp.

In the end, it's just another day at the office.

Hi Ballast.

Are you coming to the Solent on this trip? If so, please give me an ETA and I'll see if I can get out to meet you.

You need to look at the words as well.  That was a previous voyage, not the current one.  ;D

Thank you for all your kind words  ;D Due my shortage of time i can spend on the internet, i'm not able to replay to every message personal but it's much appriciated!

We are still on the Tees, 3 weeks on board and we spend about 2 weeks here, mostly waiting  :-\ Tommorow we leave to Immingham on the Humber, after that back to the Tees to load for Antwerp. Not the most exotic trips, but it beats the alternative.

A story about the old Dutch Spirit in a local news paper who made her 1000st trip to the Tees.

The modern Dutch Spirit, also on the Tees. Currently making voyage number 988, a few more trips left before she can join the magic 1000 voyages club.
