yeah i like blue marlin too,
it would be fun if we had different types of ships!

The Blue Marlin (IMO: 9186338, Port of Registry: Willemstad, Dutch Antilles) is a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel managed by Dockwise Shipping and built in 2000 by China Shipbuilding. She was designed to transport very large semi-submersible drilling rigs. She is equipped with 38 cabins to accomodate 60 people, a workout room, sauna and swimming facilities. She has a deadweight capacity of 76,000 tons, an unobstructed deck area of 11,227 m2 (63 m x 178,2 m). The vessel has a maximum speed of 13.3 kts in ballast condition, which is capable due to the three Wartsila diesels which deliver a capacity of 3850 kW each. For better manoeuvring with heavy cargo and in rough weather conditions the Blue Marlin is equipped with two retractable Azimuth thrusters of 4500 kW.

In January 2007, the Blue Marlin was employed to move two jack-up rigs, the Rowan Gorilla VI and the GlobalSantaFe Galaxy II, from Halifax Harbour to the North Sea. The Blue Marlin has arrived this morning at the Calandkanaal, Rotterdam

I too am interested in tall ships, and I'm not interested in modern vessels at all. To avoid the problems you mention, perhaps you could develop a seperate program for them. I wouldn't expect precise handling.

Hello Alaska and welcome to the forum

No you aren't the only one to suggest sailing ships, but ss is gearing up more for motor powered ships (who can say for the future though...).

I think making sailing ships handle correctly would probably take a lot of development time. Maybe if they try to make large ferries/cargo ships handle correctly and accurately AND sailing ships it may make the programme a little too cumbersome?

Ship Simulator should really become like Flight Simulator. If this ever happens I would like to have Zeebrugge and Hull as ports and a part of the river Humber. Besides this you should be able to do the entire crossing on auto pilot like in FS but one can only dream of such a game  :-\.

Anyway, I would like to see the following ferries.

Pride of Bruges

Pride of York

The pictures were taken by me and can be found on my Flickr page.

Something in naval ships, like aircraft carriers, battleships, etc. And Something in sailing ships, like frigates, schooners, galleons, etc. As far as cargo, an "Edmund Fitzgerald" would be nice.

One of the Royal Caribbean megaships would be really cool with wing controls and a wheel to control the azipods and all the rest.(Voyager of the seas,Independence of the seas,Oasis of the seas etc.)
