Hi Jack.

Out of interest, did te srvice provide have the initials B and T? Every person, every company I know that has/had BT as a provider has had terror stories to tell about their idiocy.

No, no.. they don't have laptops at BT! They're still using some kind of Morse-code technique these days.

Gosh! I saw him when I last went to Mumbai, earlier this year. Looks like they have upgraded the equipment since my visit, at least.

Hi Jack.

Out of interest, did te srvice provide have the initials B and T? Every person, every company I know that has/had BT as a provider has had terror stories to tell about their idiocy.

Guess what! YES!!!! BT are useless, so we eventually went for a different company called "Utility Warehouse" they are brilliant! and genuine people, you always speak to the same person every time you ring and don't get this:

(What you get when you ring BT)

*bring bring, bring bring, bring bring* Hello, welcome to BT, If you want to know about our latest offers, press 1, if you want to learn about our fantastic web connection, press 2 (already getting annoyed), if you have any technical problems with any of our services, press 3.

*Please hold* (music comes on-after 10 minutes somebody finally gets on the line) Hello? Oh hi, I'm having problems with my telephone line? You told me it would come on two days ago, but It still isn't on?

(This is where it gets annoying)

Oh, sorry sir, we do not deal with this in our department, let me put you through to *Something* department. Please hold.

*music again*

Oh hi, i'm currently having problems wit........(Person on other end: What? don't tell me that BT have put you through to us? Its *can't remember the name* college.

........we could not believe it, they managed to put me through to a college......What sort of people do they have working for them?

So, we managed to get a (what seemed) valid responce from BT, after ringing them again, a girl PROMISED the phone line (and internet) would be on such and such a date. we still didn't quite trust BT and rang them the day after, guess what they told us.....They said:

"We have no record of any such order, we'll have to place a new one"

So we just cancelled the whole thing, and went with a small company called "Utility warehouse" They are brilliant and had the phone and internet on today, as promised. So, if anyone here plans to go with BT...Don't..... :D

Anyway, besides that, I'm back now, and shouldn't have any more internet problems, I'll post a picture of the house tomorrow. So all of you can see it ;D

I know precisely what you mean, Jack.

I just wanted to move the company lines to the new building last year. Transfer the existing numbers and internet connections to the new one. Have replacements at the original site.

2 months later, they had installed new lines (or tried to) eight different times at the OLD location. They had twice turned up to the new site, but gone away when they found no-one from BT had yet actually connected the cables. Each time, they cancelled the job and set it up again with another two week delay.

They sent me a bill for the lines they hadn't installed and that bill showed a rental bill for TEN YEARS of previous rental, even though the lines didn't exist.

Eventually I connected to their computer system using engineers codes, and set up the jobs myself. We got the phones installed then.

I also complained to OFCOM and took BT to court where we got several thousand pounds of compensation from them. When they still hadn't paid after three months, we sent the baliffs in. They were about to close a telephone exchange when BT got their cheque book out and paid up. They had to pay several thousand pounds for thebaliffs as well.

OFCOM also fined BT quite heavily.
