Hi.

Are you sure the copyrights of this song allow you to publish it on a public forum ?

Yes. It's a remix of DJ Krush who didn't write it either, he just modified the original. Also it is a Remix of my own recording so yes it is legal.

If we wanted to use it anyway, we would have to approach DJ Krush anyway and ask if we could use it. Offering of $3500 USD to DJ Krush is a fair amount to use his work.

Which doesn't mean the song has no copyright and belongs to public domain.

The song currently which I wrote and recorded is my property. I own it now since I recorded over the original. And I give Ship Simulator all the rights to use it. Feel better now?

Thousands of songs have been recorded over the original and sold over a small edit of the original.

If you still aren't satisfied I will break out into a song and start singing over it in a new recording with my own lyrics.  ;)

First, I want to know what you all think of the tune. I have experience in music creation and can duplicate the sound in an original loop form which should be easy to place as a background sound, if you so wish?

And you may use it, with my permission for Ship Simulator.

Before I begin the task of recording an original soundtrack for Ship Simulator, would a sound like this work for you guys?

Kind Regards,

WatersCanada

1. As this has absolutely nothing to see with the Vessel Design Group, I moved it to a more appropriate section, Small Talk. Maybe the "Vessel Desing Group" title isn't perfectly clear, so let me clarify : it's a section where people are supposed to talk about the design of vessels.

2. You took a record of a song, and added ad the begining a sample of your voice. From my point of view, this strictly doesn't give you the ownership of the song. Which still makes me think you uploaded illegal content on this forum. Unless you are the author of this sample, which would mean you are "DJ Krush" :-)

Lets just start over.

Hello. My name is WatersCanada. I compose music. I can compose a background soundtrack for Ship Simulator. I have created over a dozen full length albums of my own, from Classical to Hip Hop.

I can give you over 100 samples of my own work, but that would take too much time.

Here is one Intro I created for my own label called Tronica which I am attaching.

Nice to meet you.

Ok , let's startover then !

My name is Denis, I'm a moderator on this forum, and I'm here to ensure everything's ok, and that legal terms "and so on" are respected.

You attached a MP3 file on this forum. As I don't want to commit mistakes, I went on a (legal) web music streaming site, where I could listen to the song "Edge of Blue", written by DJ Krush. The mentionned website is http://www.deezer.com.

I compared both versions, the version you gave here, and the original version. It appears it's exactly the same, except you added a few words at the beginning of your sample.

You might compose music (or not), you might have created a dozen full length albums (or not), you might be Elvis Presley (nobody has a proof that he's really dead !!), Miles Davis, or Ludwig van Beethoven, but the sample you uploaded is from DJ Krush, and, unless you actually are DJ Krush, I don't think you're allowed to upload it. Question of copyrights. But, as you created your own label, I suppose you know what I'm talking about.

kind regards.

That was fun! We haven’t had a fruitcake like that since the clown who said I was the antichrist, Satan was my Dad, and that God would smite me as a personal favor to him.

Your own your own, I can't help you people. Hopeless.

I'd suggest helping yourself first, mate. To some counseling perhaps.
And who said we need help in the first place, there you go again and assume you're the answer to our prayers.

I wont get into the copyright issue, but I do agree fully with my colleague. I think you did not write the original music, and judging by your remark about DJ Krush, I doubt that you know anything about copyright matters. DJ's will have to have permission to make a Remix, they don't just edit them and release them as their own. Oh wait, I said I wouldn't get into it. Let's leave it at that.

Not me....should of looked into legal rights before posting soundtracks here....and asking for a beta version of SS08 Pro is a bit too much isn't it?

That's something that could be handled either out side of the forum or not at all. ;)

Personally I thought that guy was a bit loopy and strange...something wasn't right anyway. I don't think we've seen the last of him either...... :o :D

That was some fun though :D
