How do they sync SMF with MP?

Does anyone know how they do it? Like make it so you have to have forum profile with license key entered. I saw on the website for SMF that they had stuff kinda like that. But how exactly do they do it?

You can get various mods for SMF from the mod site, but I wouldn't be surprised if VSTEP coded it here themselves ;)
