Project Knorr-Aborted
« on: September 17, 2008, 21:23:08 »

I am sad to say, but project Knorr is aborted. Look what the navy said:Visit the Knorr Web site operated by Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution and contact them for any further
information/permissions/etc.
http://www.whoi.edu/page.do?pid=8157

Please understand that our priority is the safety of all U.S. Navy
assets and the men and Spambot aboard. The U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office
will provide no further details about the ship's construction. Providing
such details would put the safety of our sailors at risk.

Good luck in your gaming,
U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office
Thats sounds like a no to me.  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I'm sorry to hear those news, but why don't you just make your own ship, that just looks a bit like Knorr, it has been done with many others ships.

I think that you will hear exactly the same at any shipping company.

Just first try to build a simple ship, and if you are good at it, build a big complicated ship.

There is no point in modeling that. I wanted to model Knorr.

Greetings,
It has been said before,if you want to model a vessel, first check about permissions.Like Sam also said on this topic"most of the company's will not provide more info than wat's on the website of the company itself.
However, maybe when you explane to the company what the idea is,maybe with some screenshots of the game/vessels.
It's a different approach, maybe this can work.On the otherhand you dont work on vessels which we cant use.

Firestar, I am going to be honest.

No shipping company will give blueprints to a kid who modelled a dolphin.
They need more to be convinced!

In the game, most of the ships are fictional.

Just try to build a ship, not to difficult, and if you have a good result, you (maybe) can convince a shipping company to let you build one of their ships.

A whole ship is much more complicated then a dolphin, I am trying to build a simple crew supplier, and I still keep facing troubles.

Um...Who said i was a kid? And um...I have modeled more than a dolphin..and this post has been dead for like a week...and um...Most of the ships are NOT fictional, In fact only like 3 of them are fake. Not trying to be rude but what you said upset me a littl bit.

I thought the 12 in your name sais you are 12j old.
Sorry then for calling you a kid.

I am just trying to make a point, I think you won't get the coöperation of any company.

I would search for a ship wich has a lot of plans available and build that.
Here is for example a verry good site with good plans to build the hull:
http://www.modelismonaval.com/servicios/descarga/descarga_planos.htm
Maybe the Hespérides is something for you?

hello Sam,
Well, even when you make a vessel from a modelplan, you need to have permission to get it in the game.
Because you want to use it as a commerciale item.
their are some rules about that to.
I know it's it's no fun, however this is the way it is.
Be sure you have permission, before you start on a ship, unless you want to make it for yourself only.

Funny story about that 12 actually. It was originally to be "124" But a typo made it "12" So alot of people make that mistake.

And we probably make a mistake because you act like a 12 year old at times.

Jolly good show, chaps.

Disagreement is a perfectly normal part of human interactions. (Being non-human that doesn't apply to me). It is perfectly possible to hold completely opposing views without being foolish. (My wife and I hold very different views about a number of things. We respect each other's right to hold different views, even though I'm right and she's wrong).

But abusive posts will lead to immediate bans with no further discussion, as some people have found out. We will not tolerate anyone using the forum for such nastiness.

'nuff said now, I think.
