Ship Simulator 2008 Forum error found
« on: September 12, 2008, 09:07:45 »

I have visited the forum like 100 times now and i just noticed something wrong, when you log in and look to see if there are any new replies to your posts at the bottom of the page there are the following:

Topic you have posted in
Normal Topic
*Hot Topic (More than 25 replies)
Very Hot Topic (More than 25 replies)    Locked Topic
Sticky Topic

now where you can see the star there is a mistake done, instead of "More than 25 replies" it should say "25 replies" because it would not make any sense having the same indication twice for the same type of topic, it would not make any difference. It keeps bugging me

I've never noitced that, but i dont think its to big a deal.

Maybe you should tell the Head Forum Administrator, they might have some concern with it.  ;)

If only i can find ot where he lives, true it is not much of a big deal, but small mistakes must be fixed because they can get bigger and then out of control

I believe the Head Forum Adminstrator is Wout or Frank_VSTEP.

Just thought i'd through that one out there.

Mark would be the one that would handle these kind of things, actually, since he's the technical/maintenance man. And Frank is not an Administrator.

But if it is a fault in the actual forum software, then it's the responsibility of the SMF people, of course, not VSTEP.

It's a small mistake, and people that are smart enough to operate a pc, can probably also figure out what's going on with this typo. The risk of it "getting out of control" is very, very small indeed, that's a bit of an overstatement if I ever saw one. I noticed this little typo on day one, and have never really given it any more thought.

And how often do you really base your "am I going to read this topic?" decision on this little bit of info anyway? If I'm honest.. I think 99% of the people just read all the new posts that come up in the unread list, or just the stuff that they find interesting, based on the topic title, regardless of how hot the topic is.

I did point out above that "he's aware of it". But of course, subsequent posters ignored that, as it would have destroyed their rants and scare-mongering...

Not that I'm in any way cynical. Or bored.... Sorry! fell asleep then.

Sorry chaps. This must be the most boring and pointless topic since anything with Titanic in its title.

When viewing latest posts of a member, the tekst of the topic is black on dark blue, quite hard to read
My suggestion would be white tekst on dark blue.. ;)

So what should it be? Less than 25 wouldn't make sense, 25 wouldn't either, is it that Very hot topic should be "more than 50 replies"?

I personally use almost exclusively the "Show unread posts since last visit" and "show new replies to your posts" buttons. They are very useful and I don't take any notice of the little icons. They don't really need to be there unless you can't read numbers
