Caps lock on?
No. The computer thinks one of the shift keys are being held down when they are not.

I just reset my computer and it's fine now.

Thing is, StickyKeys seems to do it when I hold down a shift key to run.

Now the question is how do I prevent it?

Start > Control panel > Accessibility Options.
In the Keyboard tab.

Also, if you hold the shift key down for about 10 seconds, a dialogue box should come up and "nanny" you. Tell it you don't want the sticky function to work.

On my computer if you press shift 5 times in a row it comes up with the sticky keys.

Question from me: Why does my computer start up with semi high contrsat now? So when i first load up internet explorer the background colours to web pages arent right. It goes back to almost normal when i do Alt+Shift+PrtScr but there is still a black background to the icons on the desktop

Yes Terry, I am Indeed :D

Try redoing what you did to get sticky keys

what is the difference between stickyKeys and Filterkeys?

StickyKeys: press shift five times
FilterKeys: press and hold shift for 8 seconds

A Mac does have a lot of similar functions, although the software is much more limited in its abilities, compared to the Microsoft offerings. Apple do that, (dumb it all down) to prevent their users getting confused with too many options. Microsoft fill it up and let you go figure.

So isn't there a way to stop the annoying semi high contrast on startup?

Sounds like you've installed or updated a program that has messed up the video driver. Trying downloading a new video driver from Nvidia or ATI or whoever.

Ahoy Person264,
If You love getting trouble, by all means, try Beta-Drivers (or any other Beta-Software). It is called BETA for a reason.

My laptop does that. I have to put it to sleep and bring it back before it goes back to normal. Have no clue why and it has always done it!

The only thing that happens when I take it out of sleep is the USBs stop working so I can't charge or connect my iPod

I re-downloaded and re-installed the Nvidia Drivers, didn't help.
Would you rather everyone was playing all their songs out their phone speakers or listening to their ipod quietly?
I don't know what to do about the annoying semi-High Contrast. Any registry changes you can think of that will help?

(1) They wouldn't fix your eye-pod, I imagine

(2) I'd rather they kept it completely to themselves, at home, buried in concrete. I hate being bombarded by intermittent hissing noises pouring out of people's ears as they listen to their music while disturbing my peace and quiet. Walkman, iPod => pointless noise machines. I am sure that in ten year's time, these devices will have caused so many cases of deafness and tinitus that they will be classed with cigarettes.

(3) None. It may be a BIOS problem or even a hardware problem. Probably, you're stuck with unitl you can blow up the laptop. You could try hitting the iPod with it until they both shatter. Or maybe not. Your choice.

I'm not the one with the laptop...
That's a shame, but maybe when I get my RAM fixed it will go back to normal?
I'm not the one on the bus with the headphones, my iPod Touch rarely leaves my house and I use it more for games than music (X-Plane, Auto Mangler, (Shipsim, well not at the moment *hint hint*)) so at the moment the only ringing I can hear is the CRT TV buzzing away.

Well, hitting the iPod with a PC is even more effective, of course.

I doubt it's the RAM. It's probably ging to be "just one of things". You might fix it by uninstalling everything, updating the BIOS, reinstalling everything again.

But maybe not. Over the years, I've a few PCs that had odd quirks. Nothing I did would fix the problem, except scrapping it and using a new PC.
