Sorry to go off topic like that, but I do think it is better swopping old sailors tales than complaining as, sadly, so many seem happy to do. Life is too short for me to bother too much. :doh: After all, one needs a chart to find the best place to anchor. !:)

Hi Ballast, I know the officers have many tasks. Thanks for clarifying the paper chart bit. It was from a quite old MCA report re: a peeandohno ferry accident.

Hi Guys
As a child I went to sea with my father to Iceland and I can rember sitting in the wireless room
on the bridge while he took the pips on the radio to get the position of vessel.
In those days loran and decca potter's were very new very few trawler's had them.
