Heh, I was joking my friend ;)
Besides my current system is faster than your old one anyway ;)
In all honesty, I only need a new graphics card, although thiis one is fine...........I WANT MORE ;D
Regards.

-
hehe dont we all want more,
My old system runned fine with CS:Source and BF2 in high res but in SS08 when i play in rotterdam and there is a lot of scenery and traffic it lags so bad i only get 1 fps.
Good thing about this board and vga card is they can run in SLI mode so if i would buy another GeForce EN8800GTS then i couldd run SS08 over multible screens in the highest possible res :)
-
That's one way to make us all jealous :P
I would be happy with a GeForce 7950 GX2 at the moment, but I can wait for a while if I have to ;)
Regards.

I must be able to use this system for at least 3 years without upgrading major components, and it will replaced in 5 years.
-
I found this video card while searching. Its an EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS 512mb. I will be buying this but also i have a small problem. is it my system or video card preventing me from running my game on high. my specs are:
Intel Pentium D Duo Core 2x 2.8 (Viiv)
2 gigs of ram
Nvidia 7600 GT OC
computer is XP Media center 2005
I can run almost any game i own on high... including bioshock. so whats with ship simulator?
-
Hiya Hawk233 :)
Technical questions must be asked in the Technical Support area, after entering your licence key into your forum profile, thanks :)
A great deal of these issues have already been resolved, so searching that area is also recommended ;)

micha
Heh, luckily I don't play music or games at that time in the morning, unless it's one of those nights ::)
Even then though, I keep it low ;)
-
Where do you get those kind of speakers, from a P.A. system or something, or do you use like 16 marshall stacks?
-
That's a standard 'Trust' setup, I actually bought them at my local computer shop ;D
Check the Trust website for their full range, some great speaker sets on there ;)

I actually allready have a 2.1 speakersystem ;D, I'd like bigger speakers, but my wife doesn't like me having them ::), I was just curious, I guess you really like to feel them big diesel engines, besides hearing them, ads to the realism ;).
micha
-
Those speakers do make a real difference to your gaming experience, but I got them for the quality of the sound, not the power ;D
Using a high-end power setup gives you greater sound quality at lower volumes too ;)
-
The supplier allmost has all the parts, there still waiting for the GeForce card and casing.
I hope next week he will fininsh and assemble it and send it to me :)
-

Not at the moment, I would like to, but would have to upgrade my Motherboard too ::)
I will go for a socket 940 mobo though as I'm running a 939 at the moment ;D
Edit: I may even go for AM2 yet, haven't decided ::)
-
I ordered a SLI motherboard for my EN8800 GTS 640MB next year when the price drops on that card perhaps i will buy another one, currently its around € 360,=
-
The joy of owning a PC eh..............buy it, the following day it's out-of-date.......upgrade, out-of-date......etc etc. ::)
I think the PC market and the technology needs to settle, and give us all a break ;)
-
The PC Market wil settle as soon as uncle Bill from Micro$oft does.
Each OS launched needs at least twice as much CPU power, RAM and HDD storage as the previous one.
MS-Dos needed something like 4 MB of HDD space
Windows 3.11 needed 15 to 20 MB
Windows 95 could be installed under 200 MB
Windows 98 was a bigger then that the same for Windows ME.
Windows XP not under 1 GB
And for Vista you need 8 GB minimum
You want to settle buy a Mac but then you cant play Ship Sim ;)
-
You want to settle buy a Mac but then you cant play Ship Sim ;)
I'll definitely PASS on that one, couldn't do without my Ship Sim now ;D
I was gonna try Linux, but can't be bothered setting up 'Wine' and all the other headache-inducing programs to be honest ;)
-
I've taken the plunge LOL, downloading Ubuntu Linux as I type ;D
Gonna run a dual-boot, just to test it ;)
-
All my parts have arrived at the store, they will assemble it tomorrow so by the end of the week i will get my new machine, i hope SS08 will run on Vista Ultimate 64bit

Nice one ;D
Have fun when your new shiny PC arrives :D

I have a pretty simple pc
running a dual core E6600 overclocked on 2 X 2.7 Mhz on a p5l 1394 motherboard
2 Gb ddr2-667 memory
250Gb western digital 7200rpm harddrive
and a ATI radeon X1950pro ultimate
runs ss 2008 just fine :)
greetz Micha
-
Pretty simple ???
It's a great deal better than mine :-[
For the time being anyway :P ;)
-
When I bought it last year it was all brand new, now it is allmost outdated, there's no way keeping up with computer development :'( , ah were are those glorious dos days when it was impossible to crash your pc and when defragging your 30 mb harddrive took most of the morning, wait a minute, that wasn't so glorious was it? Besides shipsimulator then would have been 2 D probably ;D with pixels the size of office-blocks ;D
-
I still remember my Amiga days, no upgrade needed for about 10 years......if only it was like that now eh ;)
I also remember my first flight sim, it was on the Commodore 16 and all you had were dials. You had to get your 'o' to meet up with the 'x'......spent hours on that one LOL ;D
-

I bet you also had great engine sound from the onboard speaker. I remember my brother who had a "realistic" ;) formula one game on his XT :P , I drove the neighbours mad with the electronic drone coming from the onboard speaker, which, by the way, had no volume knob on it :D
-
Onboard speakers, now that takes me back.....scary :P
I also remember having to press the 'tape' reset button to be able to rewind it back to that position.....just so you could load in level 1 again ;D
Those were the days eh ;)
-
I was lucky enough to be able to follow the most important part of pc and game development in the past. To be honest, back in the "old" days, my friends and I were often fantasizing about the future of pc and game development, and were in awe of games we think of as "unplayable", and boring now. I spend weeks playing a space sim called elite wich was only available in black and white and vector grafics. It was , for me, the first true 3 D game, and I thoughed it was awesome.... ;)
I bet if we would have been taken to this day and era we would be amazed about what is possible now, and think we were looking at a movie instead of a game :o , and still we are not satisfied now ;D ;D . We want more of it all !!! And most importantly, we want it now !!! ;D ;D ;D
-
Elite eh, great game in it's day ;D
I still love the old games........who didn't love games like Pacman, Space Invaders, Outrun, Space Harrier.....the list could go on forever ;)
-

They were £25 (GBP), a real bargain ;D
Got them from a local computer supplier, but newer and more powerful ones are available now ;)

I got my PC last friday, have been at it to get Vista up and running will soon be sailing around but got to tackle some memory issues first :)
