After waiting for hours for the down load to complete I started it up and very very slowly I get to the screen where I can create a profile. After that is does nothing except play music.
I cannot proceed with the programme not can I get out of it without Alt Cntrl Del.
This is a typical example of untested software being released and PAID FOR
It is simply not good enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FIX IT OR GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK

it'll be fixed soon, you aren't the only one ::)

the "untested software" thing bothers me, as I (and several others people here on this forum) spent lots of their spare time testing and reportings bugs.
One fact is that every computer is different (different hardware, operating system, drivers, peripherals ...) and some interactions could simply not be foreseen ...
But don't worry, everything will be fixed.
-
Obviously the testing was not widespread enough and not thorough enough ... would not be surprised if VSTEP not abandon the amateur simulator business after this effort, it is not doing their reputation any good ...

Chris,
I do not like the tone of your post. You obviously don't know what it takes to develop a game, and the ignorance if your symtoms reflect this in your post.
I would suggest that we start this topic again on the right foot, eh? :)
If you would be kind enough to post your DXDIAG report we can take a look at your system and see if there is anything that might hinder your ability to run the game.
Your dxdiag can be obtained by following these instructions:
Click Start > Run. type in dxdiag and press Enter. You may see a popup asking about WHQL drivers, click Yes/Ok to proceed.
In the window that appears, click the button that says Save All Information, when the Save Dialog box appears, save the file to your desktop. To upload the file here, click Additional Options underneath the reply area and choose Browse near Attach. Browse to your desktop, click the file and click Open.
* Windows Vista users need to press the Windows Key + R to access the Run prompt.
I can appreciate that you are upset that the game is not running as intended, but perhaps we can help :)
-
Adam,
in fairness, remember that many members are only kids and are impatient. They also lack the ability to articulate arguements.
I don't know what's what as I won't have anything to do with this steam thing. But it does strike me there are a lot of unhappy people out there. Remember when 08 was released? Lets face it, it still isn't really finished.
Publishing deadlines... blame the publisher by all means. But developers should refrain from agreeing to dates that can not be met.
-
Stuart,
I can certainly appreciate why the young people on here would become upset due to the game being so demanding on system resources, and thus running slow.
What I don't appreciate is the way people display their anger towards people when they do not understand the situation :-\
However, enough negetivity, I am willing to help Chris if he is willing to provide his DXDIAG report :)
-
You know I'm not being critical of goderators! Remember why I told them to go forth and multiply? Simply that they get you to take the flack for them.
So much for it being a privelaged position! But, I'm getting off the point. So I shall go forth...

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the game but it doesn't work properly. I have downloaded other games and I haven't had any problems until now. Here is my dxdiag report for my computer. System Information

Hi Truckman,
I'm afraid we'll need a little more information than that :)
Can you post your DXDIAG as instructed above please? We can then look at your system in proper detail.
Regards,
Adam

Every game is different, just as many systems are different. It has worked absolutely perfectly for me?

Hi guys,
My first post here!!
Anyway, for quite some time I've been looking forward to SS Extremes, played many hours of SS 2008.
After a LOT of messing about trying to get the sim to actually start I finally got to play it (possibly by fluke!) but OMG do you appear to need an absolute powerhouse of a system to run this :o
I'm running an overclocked Phenom II Quad @ 3.6ghz a core, 4GB of DDR3, overclocked Radeon HD 4870 & I can no where near attain the sort of framerates that I used to get with SS 2008. 15-20 at best.
Using latest drivers on everything. Using Win7 64bit btw.
Yes I know you can dial things down in the settings but then you lose the great looks.
Very sorry but I think this software was released WAY to early, the net seems to be awash with complaints at the moment regarding all sorts of issues.
Some urgent patches/updates needed here I think.
To the OP, not sure if I'd use the word 'disgrace' but I certainly understand your dissapointment, lets hope the developers jump on this rather sharpish, somebody mentioned reputations.

You won´t be able to run the program, as your system is just not good enough. It´s sad, but that´s the truth. You need a better cpu, more ram, and probably a better graphics card.

Do you have a SLIGHTEST idea how game development works? ::)

Do you have a SLIGHTEST idea how game development works? ::)
I do, and i see the problem of users thinking SSE would be SS08 with some new features when in fact its a new game and as a new game they did not have the right or enough beta testers.
If they released it to this forum on a 2 week test before release, then had the license kick in they would have been aware of the problems and not released, however then they would have had more moans from their sales agents.
V-Step were between a rock and a hard place and failed this time but I am sure they will fix things and as soon as they do this will all be forgotten.
Give them a break folks, developing a sim is not black and white

I hope this everything else you need.

Hi Truckman, SSE requires a reasonably modern graphics card with 256mb of dedicated memory on board. The display adapter powering your system is an "integrated" processor (unfortunately designed more for 'general' image output as opposed to gaming) with 64mb of dedicated memory.
That probably means that making the game work on your system with any reliability is going to be a bit of an uphill struggle :(
-
Not strictly true. I broke the memory module for my laptop integrated card and using shared memory WELL BELOW the spec, it worked fine.
Yet my desktop is far above and didn't run as well... Very odd.
EDIT: The above was for 08... don't know effect on sse,
-
After waiting for hours for the down load to complete I started it up and very very slowly I get to the screen where I can create a profile. After that is does nothing except play music.
I cannot proceed with the programme not can I get out of it without Alt Cntrl Del.
I had this same smyptom but after I updated my video driver it worked. The developers still have a lot of work to do, but I am happy to have something to try.
-
Can someone check my dxdiag file attached as i think its fast enough for SSE but i get a poor frame rate

Yeah with that video card you will never be able to make the game run. Or it will look even worse than SS08 and run at a very low framerate.
This video card is not for gaming.

Calm down and relax. I'd have thought an experienced professional sailor like yourself would have developed a little patience. Then again, maybe not. Since you're also a computer professional :sleepy: why not offer vstep a hand?

Hoy,
Here the same,calm down!
Just add your DxDiag, then we see more.Maybe its just your system right enough for the game.
Instead of shouting at us?

Hi pnag ......Amidst all these complaints of the poor performance of SSE. it is encouraging to note it has worked well for you. Could you please share your PC configuration as it will give a fair insight to many as to whether their PCs are good enough to run SSE. Thanks.

You have created a new topic for configs, so no need to continue here.
