Title: Record Breakers
Post by: Ozy783 on November 27, 2009, 18:50:54
Suggest some Record breaking ships for Ship Sim.

Like largest container or largest cruise liner.

World's Largest Crude Carrier Jahre Viking. She is the record breaker of largest ship before Oasis of the Seas came. Jahre Viking was said to be scrapped by the shipbreakers sometime from now. Ship Sim would keep her memory alive if she is scrapped, like Ship Sim kept Titanic alive when she sank. So my suggestions for SS08:
VLCC Jahre Viking (Knock Nevis)
MV Oasis of the Seas
RMS Queen Mary 2
RMS Queen Elizabeth 2
MS Queen Elizabeth 3
and finally, Titanic's Hospitalic sister, HMHS Britannic.
Pictres in order:

Britannic is shrouded by Titanic's fame but is not forgotten.

Of course!  I was very lazy to go search for what has been already posted, so I proudly corrected your post.
I didn't like that Oasis image, so I used my favourite one!

Besides, the copyright of images that you used in your post doesn't say that only you are allowed to use them!

My favourite tanker, the French built Batillus and her 3 sisters :o

(http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/1610/batillustankerinsaintna.jpg) (http://img37.imageshack.us/i/batillustankerinsaintna.jpg/)

414m long, and still today the biggest ships ever constructed by gross tonnage. The last one was scrapped in 2003 :(

I dont think that chart is right because even the Titanic is bigger than the Empire state building and the chart says Knock nevis is just as tall as Empire state.

even if it was the Chrystler Building, Titanic is still smaller by 12 meters and about 50 meters including  Antenna/Spire
and the building did not even exist back at the titanic`s time line

I had a PowerPoint presentation in work last week, something to do with pep management talk or whatever they were trying to tell us (I was not paying attention) there was a line which said:

"Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark. Professionals built the Titanic."

What kind of idiot picked that up and used it in our PowerPoint presentation? Obviously someone was trying to be clever and impress the boss!   ::)

Just over 90 quid, actually.

I didn't realise how far the USD had dropped. WELL below natural market position... It WILL rise back up... Methinks now is a good time to invest in USD- it is well under valued. Would be nice if it were 75 quid, TFM.

Whoa that has dopped - I always rembeberd that a dollar was about twice as much as a pound - ie you divide dollers by two to get pounds

How times change...

if you divide something that is twice as much by two, you usually do get your starting value... Try it- it works on a whole range of numbers...

I remember when the pound was low in 87... I foget what the rate was, but it was a flipping expensive trip there!
