Title: Finished my Titanic model at last
Post by: RMS Canada on August 12, 2009, 16:54:42
After working on my Titanic model for a week and ten days (started Sunday August 2, 2009) it is finally finished.  It was a lot of work, especially with putting on rigging and guidewires and such.  I am very pleased with it.

Anyway, I'll get the pictures on here tomorrow when I've taken them tonight.

I got a new Titanic Model last week, the one that is most detailed, with ropes (as in string for the model), small chains, traclucent domes for the small staircases, exact railing and is exact to the Titanic with every thing included. This model is $99.99 for the model. The model is less than 4 feet long.

Hmm  From what you have described I think you got rather Olympic than Titanic.  I have the Titanic model & it looks a bit different from that.

No, There was no RMS Olympic model up at the store I got the model from, Nor Britannic, they did have another Titanic but very undetailed. I got the Very Detailed Titanic, instead of the U-Boat, Aircraft Carrier, or Aircrafts of WWII models.

Hi Capt. Matt,

It's not that kind of model that can go on water, and I thought you were back in the Big Apple by now.

Is it accurate? Did you paint it correct colors? :)

When I got it, it was a partly pre-painted model, as in the funnels were the right colours, same with the A, B, and C decks, and the hull black.  The only parts I have to paint was the red hull and the hatches white along with the forward and aft staircases.

Did you use the TRMA guide to compare this to? What about Peter Davies Garner's "Titanic: a model maker's guide"?

Hi Lama, wazup?  Typing from iTouch before the battery go out. :P

I'm 100% ready for RMS to show his Titanic!  Got 8 sunglasses, bought 4 packs of Popcorn, cold beer, invited friends, etc. Sitting, waiting...            Like we say:

Hi Firestar,

No, I did not use "Titanic: a Model Maker's Guide".  I used the pictures on the box for referance and a painting guide that came with the model along with the instruction manual.

To everybody, I will upload the pictures today, so please be paitent  :)

Hmm  That doesn't sound to me that the model went out accurate & realistic as possible.  False hopes as usual. :-\

But we shall see it anyway! :2thumbs:

I remember seeing that somewhere online actually. That model type. May I ask, was it a complete kit? What was supplied?

Just curious, being a bit of a Model Boat nut myself!

Jack.

I mean as in, what pieces came with the kit? Like, Was it just main sections, or were all the rails and other bits seperate bits you had to buy yourself? Paint etc?

Jack.

Oh no, it came with all the parts.  The only things it didn't include was the glue and paints.

Good stuff. I've got a model of the Titanic myself, I got it for my 7th Birthday (Long time ago!), looking a little bit neglected now, but it was nothing special, looks nothing like Titanic in my opinion, but it kept me happy for several months after I got it!

Now that I've finished my model, I have to get a shelf put up in my room to put it on.

Post by: IRI5HJ4CK on August 13, 2009, 20:16:31
Haha! Yeah, finding somewhere to put a model is a problem. I've got Hibernia sat on my dressing table just in front of my bedroom window. She looks really nice there. Except, I have to close the curtains when the sun comes round, so's not to make the paint fade. That wouldn't be good!

Good luck with it anyway! And congrats!

Jack ;D

The only place I could put my Titanic model would be on a shelf above my computer; the problem is that space is occupied by my USS Interpid model and the other stuff that I have on the same shelf like a printer for my computer, speakers, etc.

Nice...but....the funnels look far to orange compared to some White Star Buff footage I have seen, and even thought the light can distort a color, I don't think it was THAT orange.
