Thanks very much!
Yeah, sketchup model, but a carrara render though. :)
Welllll... I'm not thát good.. that guy that made the blackhawk rocks. ;D
But I very much appreciate your kind words!!
So I started it again, from scratch.
Amazing detail, for sketchup!
Hi all, here's another update.Fred, showing us real pictures of vessels and saying they are your renders is frowned upon. (They do look that real!) :2thumbs:
Exterior almost done.. just a few little details and flaws to get just right.
After that just the wheelhouse interior left.
A quick render with more to follow soon!
Regards,
Fred
But it's still all 3d drawing at the end of the say.. joining up the dots... doesn't matter if you draw it with 3dsmax, gmax, blender, truespace, hexagon, cinema, sketchup.. or whatever. lines will be lines. And sketcup will let you put as much detail in it as you like, right up to the point where your pc slows down to pre-pentium speeds.. ;D
Thanks very much y'all!! I appreciate the kind words!! :2thumbs:
Well.. it's all just connecting lines drawn in a 3d environment.. Sketchup can do just as much detail as any other program. But people think it cannot, since so many very simple models float around out there, cause just about anyone can pick it up and have a go.. unlike other expensive programs aimed at professional use. and the resulting 'overdose' of very simple models, lacking detail, gives most people the wrong view of the program, I reckon.. I know I myself have had to seriously change my opinion about it.. hehe.. .. And of course you can only get detail if you put the hours in to painstakingly create them. ;D

OMG! That's incredible! :o
Can I have a shot of how it looks in SU without any "preparings to official show", please?
Them renders are good, well, amazing infact...
Thanks very much!

Nothing new to report..
Although I did go and visit Hoek van Holland yesterday, and got a close look at the Cetus, one of the real ones. ;D
Also went to Maassluis to see Furie, and saw some interesting things in the area, many ships going in and out, nice Ferries at the Stena Line terminal, the other pilot boats.. etc..
A very windy, very nice day, all in all. ;D
I found this video of a sistership: Cetus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuVyulwUxzA&feature=player_embedded#)
Hey everyone, what is the program you use to design these boats in 3d?
I was asked a few times about the attempt to make the Perseus, that I took a while ago. And asked if I was going to continue. Unfortunatly that first attempt was not very good. So I started it again, from scratch. It's not a 100% accurate copy since I only found photo's and no plans (yet), but generally realistic enough to bare the same name allready, I reckon... Lotsa work still to be done, but it's a start. ;D
More to follow soon, I hope.
Fred.
Even though, the Dutch pilot society invested again in jet prop tenders instead of SWATH vessels. The jet propulsion vessels are easier and safer to get alongside with. With SWATH you basicly get one shot to get alongside in the proper position. With jet propulsion vessel you can still control the tender to get it right.
