i guess firestar. when in free roam view (number 3 for views) when on a ship that will allow free roam, i was wondering if i could move any faster, then what allows at first(does this clear things up????)

Post by: Stuart2007 on March 22, 2009, 23:34:24
I think he wants to know if he can go faster when wandering around a ship.

You press either shift or control together with the arrow key. I can't remember if it's shift or control as it's been so long since I tried it.

EDIT: Posted at the same time.

Yep, it is shift. If you hold down shift, then you can run.

I must admit I haven't installed SS for about a year now. I've dug the box out and was going to load it up and have a play with it.

My greymatter is showing its age and I can't remember anything now...  :o

Don't worry, CC. It wasn't directed at you.

Agent Austin is really pleased to see me, actually.

You calling me irrelevant? :o

Hi capt S. Hope you are OK.

Oh dear. I'll try not to lose any sleep over it.

Let's just say there are alot of bad words floating in the air around your head.

And I would say most of them if I wanted to get banned...
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Stuart2007 on March 23, 2009, 01:16:16
Perhaps you should say them... But in a private PM rather than clogging up the board. I don't mind what you want to say privately (or publically for that matter, but others might object).

Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Agent|Austin on March 23, 2009, 01:25:14
Too bad you are ignored now on private messages, since you seem to think you would rather be an @** in PM's, so the mods don't come and hit you with their big ban hammers.
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Stuart2007 on March 23, 2009, 01:31:06
I don't really have inclination to discuss anything with a **** at the best of times, but I most certainly do not wish to become involved in an arguement with someone like you publically.

Now, you can either complain to me by PM, report me to the forum managers, or ****. I know which I'd prefer.

Now, perhaps we could drop this, yes? It has nothing to do with walking speed around the ship, does it?

OK kiddies, let’s try to keep the sand in the sandbox.

A|A, people can get stomped on for what they say in PMs also, In fact, the consequences can be more severe because things are obviously more personal.

Stu, you of all people should know when you are crossing the line—and circling the drain.

Title: Re: running fast

Stu, you of all people should know when you are crossing the line—and circling the drain.

I will take this up with you in PM, if you do not mind. I will, however, publically draw your attention to the fact that I invited Mr Austin to take his grievances up with me directly and not keep it in public gaze. I also draw your attention to the person who initiated this ridiculously sidetracked issue.

No need for that, Marty. I found Stu is very interesting person to read his posts.
Thanks Diamant.

One of my favorite Eastwood movies was the Eiger Sanction.
I really don’t care who started this rhubarb.
All three of you have been the cause of many complaints to the Moderators.

Stu, since you have presented yourself as the only adult among out-of-control children, you get the major share of the blame for keeping this nonsense going.
However, you are all roped together; if one goes over the edge…

Of course not. It included the three—now only two—who have been the subject of many complaints to the moderators.

Thank you all.

One of your climbing party has gone over the edge. You had better cut the rope lest you follow him.
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: mvsmith on March 23, 2009, 19:19:12
Hi CaptainSpencer,

It is unfortunate that so many topics like this one, that could have—should have—been answered in just one or two serious posts, become the venue for a long series of irrelevant, provocative, or insulting posts. There is no excuse for that. There are other places on the forum some of that.

Some of it is not acceptable anyplace; those who persist in that will enjoy only a transitory existence here.

Regards,
Marty

among out-of-control children
Sigh.

I know this doesnt include me, but I have seen Stu's last post about children giving the forum a bad name. Even though I am not a child (I'm a Teenager), I think I would best leave after the trouble people at the same age as me, such as Austin, has caused in this forum, and giving us younger members a bad name. I would like to thank you Austin, even if I have no idea of what you guys are arguing about, even I must admit that I wouldnt go as far as you in welcoming back someone with the words "mean and horrible person"

Even this is not the place, I would like apologise for all the bad things I have done, and I wish, also, like Stu, that Vstep have a good time creating SS2010
I feel really bad now... :(
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Agent|Austin on March 23, 2009, 19:46:47
Hiya, Gloat,

Now lets look it over, have I really done anything that makes the young members look bad? Or am I really just a ******* and I don't see it? I know I can get a bit mean at times, but still, Stuart wasn't exactly Mr. Nice Guy. I was just defending a couple (unnamed) friends that have problems with Stuarts approach also.

agreed gloat, i'm 15 and i dont feel all that great showing my face either, maybe i'll go hide somewhere and lay low for a while until SS10 comes out. :-\ This forum has really gone chaotic lately and i guess teens just dont fit well into this place, more of an adult game anyway i guess...

Or at least an adult feeling in the air, I am sure a big part of game sales are to persons under the age of 18.

Then again, none of us seem to be very normal...

Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Captain Darling on March 23, 2009, 19:55:22
Well if young people behaved and be more mature then there wouldn't be a problem would there?

I'm 16, a teenager, but I would never go into hibernation from the forum because somebody else about the same age mis-behaves or get's bad rep because of the thing's one person posts.

P.S. Time to close this topic methinks. Well offtopic and not a discussion that should be discussed I think.
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Captain Darling on March 23, 2009, 19:58:25
Looking at the 6 posts above yours, they all look very mature to me. Would you like us to act immature and start saying waaazup!!! all the time?
For an example; Take a look at Austin's truck topic. Do you think Austin was being mature?? I think Stu and Adam were much more mature.

Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Agent|Austin on March 23, 2009, 19:59:37
Yo yo yo, whatup in the crib Jameso?

^ Immature

What would mature be to you? Because I am certainly not doing that ^.

About my truck topic, I am not in control of when I start to drive, that law states 15, I am almost 15, I know how to drive, I am going to drive, where you live it is a different story, why do I have to be the one on the bad end of this?

Maybe you should just call the whitehouse and tell them to raise the age.
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Gloat on March 23, 2009, 20:00:51
Indeed there are some people who are completely prejudiceal against what they were when they were young: Kids.

Maybe, Captain Darling, you are right. But many adults should start to accept that young people are naturally immature.

Plus, its not ever teen's fault. Just a few of them who get nasty and immature sometimes and annoy others naturally. I'm not mentioning anyone. because some people would admit that I was one in the list
But other young people try to act as mature as possible. I will mention people this time, and they are Nathan, Jack and RMSGreatBritain.

PS Austin: Immature doesnt just bean go around acting cool, its also about staying calm and sorting out situations such as that on page one formally.

Here I am sorting out situations... Most likely being banned by a moderator that dosn't even want to understand me.
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: TerryRussell on March 23, 2009, 20:04:27
Chaps, come on...

As an incrediby old person from the viewpoint of many of you, I can honestly say that I don't put younger people down. None of the Moderators do, either. In fact, behind the scenes we often talk about how bright and mature some of you are. Many of the best contributors to this Forum are younger persons. Fred and I were discussin the work of some of you yesterday. And it was all complimentary.

And many of the older members contribute a huge amount as well.

So, age has nothing to do with this. Personalities is the issue.

Please, smile, take deep breaths and think happy thoughts before you make any more posts here.

Thanks!

Alright, can we say, young people, that we now try and act as mature as possible so some adults here can stop being prejudiceal to us? I know some of you guys already are mature, but yeah.

Does everyone agree? Can we end this pleasent but depressing meeting before CC gets mad that we have gone completely off-topic?
Title: Re: running fast

I'll try my best, no guarantees.

Old (young at heart?) people are un-predicitable.
Title: Re: running fast
Post by: TerryRussell on March 23, 2009, 20:16:05
The point is, Mr Gloat and Mr Austin, that I can only speak for myself. I have no prejudice against people based on age, colour, race, gender, religion, number of tentacles, level of transparency, nationality, shoe size, height, weight, hair colour, buttock count, number of teeth, etc.

So please don't lump all adults together. Like juveniles, they are a very mixed bunch. Some wonderful people, some not so wonderful. Just people.... Lumping people together based on a characteristic is prejudiced.

Communism/socialism should work well in this forum community then? All equal etc.? All the power in the Minority? Its been working so far and I don't think it should change. I think it's good that we have the select few doing a very good job looking after us.

P.S Austin not all of us are earthlings lest we forget.

Seriously, saying "old people...." is exactly the same as saying "Young people...", isn't it?

Title: Re: running fast
Post by: Captain Spencer on March 23, 2009, 20:25:33
I do agree with Terry on this occasion but I think sometimes it boils down to attitude too. I know younger people are naturally immature until they reach about 19 but sometimes due to some people's attitude it can cause problems.

Without being offensive I must say though that Mr Austin has a slight attitude problem as do other people on this forum. When I say attitude I don't mean by being cocky as such, just the way they think and act to certain situations. The way they think about things ect. I hope that this thread will open everyone's eyes and allow them to think about things in a different way and perhaps change the way they respond to confrontation.

I have many views on this subject and many others but now is nor the time or place. So let's please keep this forum a happy and positive place ;)

Well technically yes, except your all wrinkly and gross, but our brains think alike, well except yours.. But if you go out in Manhattan and ask some random kid walking down the road, he probably won't think that you being an old guy, and him have ANYTHING in common.

I dont think any of us 'young' people have been too immature, if anything It was Stu who was the most immaturist.

I think this forum actually for the most part discounts age, nationality whatever and I see little predujice on this forum, and we should be happy for that! Us young people and ancient :D people all get along really nicely, and thats the true value of this forum, Its actually a lovely place to be. some of us have forgotten that, But we should be happy for what we have here, a truly great community!

This topic should now really be locked in my view, so we can resume peace and harmony on this friendly forum.

Actally, that's your prejudice showing. I have walked down the streets of Manhattan and Boston and Harlem and Haarlem and Miami and spoken to people of all ages. I've met with nothing but friendliness and interest.

Age is only an issue if you make it one.

You have just done everything haven't you. ;D

The point is, is that not everybody thinks everybody else, and that is a problem in the world, most of us here see eachother as equal, probably because we really don't know who eachother are, but can you actually say, that everybody, thinks everybody else, is equal (physically and such, I mean obviously the hungry kids in africa aren't the same as us, they are hungry, but you get the point)

P.S. If I knew what prejudice was I would comment... Hehe
