If there was 4 times said what to do to download JJ & member still asking the same like no replys above his post & can't register his licence key in profile - could be that he has no key at all as he uses illegal version of SS or can't register the key which he found somewhere in the web, but really wish to have JJ as it's a "free gift" to all SS users.
I saw a lot of similar cases on this & other forums.
Think so, It's not that hard to register your keys.
And his posts alone makes it seem like he's using a illegal version of SS.

What he doesn't realise is yes, there is a download link once registered a valid SS08 key, but there is a seperate license key for the JJ alone which again is only accessed when you register the SS08 key.
Meaning it's not as simple as downloading and installing. As far as he's concerned he should get himself a legal version.
The SS08 CE is only £9.99 at www.game.co.uk which is rather cheap plus I believe the NH is included in SS08 CE, so what a bargain. It's not like it's breaking the bank.
When I got the ordinary SS08 it was around £25 then another £20 on top of that for NH. :-\

The problem with your post there James, is that you said "valid ss08 key" which he now admitted to not having. Amazing how low some people can go, and it is people like him that make the normal game that much more expensive, because now we have to pay for his game that he stole...

If you read his other posts elsewhere in the forum, you can see he's asking the questions on other threads.

You've got to be clever to be a successful thief. And you, dope, are only one of those two.

Now Stu,
A long time ago a Moderator told me I shouldn’t call people things like “dope”. We should treat even thieving idiots with a modicum of respect.

That clown, in both of his personas, is history. The lesson for the rest of us is to be very careful in helping someone who’s dog ate his license key.
Helping him by telling him to PM an Administrator is about all you should do.

If he has a key, telling him how to register it is OK, so long as you don’t use your own key as an example.
Please report any suspicious post to a Moderator by clicking the handy phrase in the lower left of the post.

A long time ago a Moderator told me I shouldn’t call people things like “dope”. We should treat even thieving idiots with a modicum of respect.

Is 'dope' disrespectful? :o ??? Do we care? Does this gentleman deserve any respect? My answer to these rhetorical questions is NO, NO, NO.

So which dope told you to treat thieves with respect then?

Ahoy dudwasup,
Send your registration number in a Personal Message to one of the moderators or to the administrator, TerryRussell. I'm 100% sure they are the people who can help you. Do not, and I mean NEVER, put that number open on the Forum.
Kind Regards
Aad the Pirate

Hi Dudwasup.

As Aad says, just send me your license key in a Personal Message and I'll sort it out.

Thanks.

Many people only post here if they have a problem. When that problem is fixed, they have no need to post again.

To be blunt, it's none of your business and I don't intend discussing it with you or anyone else, so stop asking, please. And stop posting speculation about other people's business.

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, why would that be a problem?

There's a download link in your profile, along with the license key, and it's not a big file, so it wouldn't take that long either, plus the vstep servers are secure, so don't worry about a virus or something like that.

Fred.

@ dudwasup:
Just follow one of the advices you are given here. Send a Personal Message to either the one opf the Administrators of this forum, beeing Terry Russell (nick = Terryrussell) or Fred (nick = Mad_Fred) or one of the global moderators (Marty (nick = mvsmith. In that Personal Message enter your Licence Key. That is the five groups of each five characters on the back of the booklet which comes with your copy of Ship Simulator or which is printed on a sticker inside the DVD-Box. It looks something like this : ABCDE-FGHIJ-KLMNO-PQRST-UVWXY
When you are in  possession of the proof of purchase in form of the sales slip, send a copy of that too.
Good Luck.
best Regards
Aad

Title: Re: Jumbo Javelin
Post by: Mad_Fred on April 16, 2009, 12:14:52
Hi kcuf, and welcome!

Elbe & Furie are not available for free, you can only buy them from the Shipyard.

As for the license key issue;

Where did you buy the game from, may I ask? Is it a download version or proper CD-ROM case?
If it's a case, then the license key should be on the back of the manual, or on the inside of the case.

If not, do you have a receipt, or any proof of purchase? That might help get you a new key.

Regards,
Fred

Yes, unfortunatly, you were.

We try to be so tolerant and easy.. and some just won't clean up their act, and even play such stupid jokes.. well, if you can call that a joke. I call it very, very rude. (and that's putting it mildly).

Oh well, hey ho.. back to everyday business I reckon.. I won't lose any sleep over it, we tried our best..

Hiya Capn Cal, just click yes! It's no problem. It just says something like "windows doesn't know who made this software, do you trust them enough to continue the installation?"

It's safe! As long as you get it from your profile, so directly from vstep, there will be no problem!

You only have to click that update, it will self install, and it will just be in the game, you have to enter the license key when you start it up for the first time affter install, but then it's just in the game, nothing else needs to be done!

After we allowed Gloat to return following a ban a while ago, I find this terribly disappointing.

I am usually very understanding, and will forgive many things after an appropriate period of time. But this will not be forgiven!  :'(

Its a great shame that Gloat has gone  :-[

I liked him, he was certainly alright with me. I know he wasnt the most popular guy on the forum, and he was certainly contorversial. but Ill miss him :-[

Then again he broke the rules, so he had to go. and it was somewhat inevitable he would be banned one day ::)

Goodbye Gloat, the most 'eventful' member of the forum  :-[

His rudeness and troublemaking might have amused some people, but the plain fact is that he kept on being rude to people, distrubing topics, and breaking rules, even after he has had multiple previous bans.

And be honest.. what he did in this topic, with the fake account.. you can't seriously say that such is an action of a worthy community member, can you? That is just too rude and wrong to be even remotely funny..

We for one will have to deal with a lot less complaints from now on, that much is sure. And for us, his 'attitude' was far from amusing, most of the time. We did our best, we tried to keep him under control with kind advice and lateron serious ones.. and then warnings.. and then bans even, but alas, our best efforts were not enough..

And I'm pretty sure that's not our fault.. so let's not mourn him like some fallen hero or anything, that feels as if we did something wrong here..  :-\

You made that sound like I blamed you for Gloats departure Fred, trust me I dont. He's only got himself to blame and at the end of the day he was very stupid in what he did. multiple times.

and i didnt always find his antics amusing I know what a pain it must be for you and Terry, he could be very mean sometimesbut he did have some 'non-causing-trouble' humorous moments

anyway, I spose this place is going to be a lot more peaceful in the future. so lets sit back, relax..............

Please, let's not discuss ban period of disciplinairy actions any further, that's a staff matter.  ;)

But just to balance that, don't forget, he was allready banned permanently once, and very lucky to be even let back in the first place. A mistake we won't make again I reckon. Apart from that he has had a load of shorter bans too. There are not many forums that I have been on where people get that many chances to clean up their act, to be honest. Not to beat our own chest, not at all, but we try to be very tolerant.

In the real world, at some point, there is simply no way back. This is not a public place, and everyone, including we as staff, are guests on Vstep's forum/website. Think of someone that keeps making trouble in your house, insulting your other guests, etc,.. well after enough trouble, you'll kick him out, simple as that. And we really hate to have to do that, cause we like to see everyone have a good time here. But if people keep on being so rude and disruptive, it's just over.

RMSGB, don't worry, I didn't mean to imply all that.. I was just balancing things a bit.  ;D

Let's all keep it at that.

Fred
