I can drive in 4 months....
Went down to the dealer, truck was awesome, we walked out with the keys...
2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT, 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel
Has a paint scratch on the rear bumper, backup light fuse is blown (easy fix) and that is about all that is wrong with it, got it down to 9995. Drove it home. Needs a oil change...
Tires are about 50%, doesn't seem to have been in a crash, alignment is great! It rides like a lexus!
Anyway, dark now but here are some pics to keep you busy.

Nice set of wheels Austin ;D
I'm curious though, what sort of rules do they have in the States as regards to when/how you can get your lisence?
I know that, here in the UK (And Ireland) You have to be 17 to drive on public roads and you have to have a provisional licence. I know the rules to differ when it comes to Moped's though (Do you call them that in America?)
Jack :) ;D

Great stuff, Austin. Congrats with this new purchase!!
I reckon you'll be breaking the law a few times in those 4 months though.. right? ::)

-
How'd you drive as a baby? did they extend the pedals for you? :P
-
You know fred, there are other ways to brake the love, instead of illegally driving a car, but I'm not going to mention those methods since it's probably against the forum rules
-
No no Fred, he just had a small Car!

Haha, those Peel P50's are lovely little things, I remember seeing one or two at a show once, they originally came from the Isle Of Man as far as I'm aware.

Only 50 were produced, so they are rather rare.

I think that proves that why the table is slow, it is a strong and safe family vechile and an excellent peice of modern, safe design. Really should excel in the euro Ncap rating, and If I can find a cheap used table id be proud to use it as the family car! :D

That's a BMW Isetta.. and yeah, Urkel had one of those indeed.. ;D
-
Is that why it is the Peel P50
I'd guess that's cause it has a 50CC moped engine..
-
Hmm interesting. Installed floormats now. :)
Going to get another key made today, cleared the inch of snow that fell overnight off it.
-
Hmm, 7.3L diesel? :'(
I'm learning to drive in a petrol 1.4L 16valve (90hp) Opel Corsa 'Sport' from 2004 :P
And I'm 18, in Belgium you have to be 18 to get a driving license.
And, if you pass your exam in a automatic here, you aren't allowed to drive a manual.
You have to pass your exam with a manual if you ever want to drive a manual car.

the same here in Sweden. Soon my dad will learn me how to drive (here you have to be 16) and you have to ask permission to the municipality.

i knew there would be a truck topid here ::) great truck austin, gotta love the powerstroke diesel, hope you gets a few 100,000 miles out of her ;)
-
Should atleast last though college. :)
-
i'd think so, some issues with arrise i'm sure as thats the case with most any vehicle with high miles. ::)
-
Fairly low miles for a diesel, but some parts that arn't the engine might have problems, taking it to the ford dealer this weekend for a inspection.
-
yea the engine itself may last, but the rest of the truck may give you problems in time :P
-
I gave her a nice massage today (wiped her down).
You can use my truck to put on makeup now, if Spambot were allowed near it. ;D
An idea of how large it is?

Ohh dear. I'm glad Austin isn't here in the UK...
Who bought that truck for you Austin? and by the way, aren't you only 13??
-
7.5l!? In Europe, we consider 3.0 to be quite big (and usually expensive) ::)

But still.. I'm 16 and hopefully getting my license this summer when I'm 17.
14 is a young age to start driving on the road.. :-\
Well.. it's still a big engine. My first car I reckon will be about 1.2/1.3L engine. :P
-

My parents did, for $9,100 (after tax & licensing, $9995), I am 14, I can drive in 4 months. :)
James I have been driving since I was 2, and have been driving on my property and such, I know how to drive...
Idaho state law is 14 to start driving, because they wanted the kids to be able to start driving tractors on roads between farms.
-
I'm sorry to say this but some kids are spoilt rotten. I can't get my head around the fact that your driving at the age of bloody 15!!
It's just ludicrous if you ask me...
-
Lol I got less than a year, and I can't wait
-
Adam, I didn't get to choose the year that I start driving, the government did...
Maybe it just shows you that we are more intelligent then you because we can drive early... (I have pics of my first truck thing, was in 1996, little electric jeep. :P)

Bahh hardly. Do you realise that you're one of the most luckiest kids in the world??? Other kids dream of having such small things....
-

Yes, indeed.
This has nothing to do with intelligence.
What I find the weirdest is that you have to be 21j to drink alcohol in the US.
In my country, you can drink light alcoholic drinks (like beer) from 16j old.
And everything else from 18j old.
But 15j to drive a car?
In here you can start practicing at a age of 17j and you can get your drivers license at a age of 18j.
You even have to be 16 for a scooter.
Oh, well, maybe it is biceaus of all those wide and straight roads in the us.
-
we are more intelligent then you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ghdwINqirU
-
most states in america you start driving at age 15, for New York its 16, which drives me insane, and New Jersey its 17 i dont think its crazy, kids need to be able to drive to school and so on
-

I am one of the unluckiest, Idaho starts driving at 14! (So does South Dakota and Kansas)
12 if you live on a farm, 13 if you are employed on a farm, but only included pick-ups, farm equipment, and vehicles hauling horse trailers.
Farm Husbandry Permits (Special and Temporary)

Unluckiest??!! :o Think about that for a minute and think about all the kids in the world who don't even have a television or a games console! Coming to think of it, some children don't even have a teddybear!!
Sorry, but you are spoilt beyond recognition :-\
Some of us work our arse off constantly to just put food on the table and your parents just wonder down the shop and spend $10000 or whatever on a truck!
**sighs**

Better not post pics of our $10,000 theater.

You should. I do my part for the children and families that don't have that stuff, but I need a little fun too.

What happened to the yellow school buses? (Yes I have them aswell)
If not a bus there is always a cycle or you can use your own two feet to get from point A to B.

Don't understand how you came to that conclusion, I would of loved to drive at your age, but if I had of done I'd be at the youth offenders for underage driving offences.
I still can't wait to get behind the wheel, but I wouldn't do it at 15. 15 years old will be most likely to have accidents or commit driving offences because some are too young to understand the highway rules or that the road is dangerous for immature behavior from kids behind the wheel.
-
yes we have buses, but they suck, walking forget that no one will walk to school around here, those days are long gone ::)
-
My school is almost 15 miles away, I can't bike or walk.
The only good thing about the buses, is that I always hope the driver dies in the middle of a route, and I go up and continue driving.
-
yes we have buses, but they suck, walking forget that no one will walk to school around here, those days are long gone ::)
Wow, that's just lazy. I thought School kids were bad in the UK. :o
That's just self centered of you guys, there's nothing wrong with buses. Instead you want to go around in your big trucks at a young age. Can I ask, do you do anything good to the enviroment?
My school is almost 15 miles away, I can't bike or walk.

Well I feel sorry for the bus drivers for having such awefull minded kids that have to be driven to school so that you kids get an education.
-
its true though, school buses are among the most annoying loud uncomfortable ways to travel. They're hot, sweaty, sticky and smelly in the summer, wet and smelly on a rainy day. Cold in the winter, noisy from the kids and the bus itself, and not much room either. I'd rather get driven to school and picked up everyday (which i do) than take the bus, and i've got plenty of friends who agree and want i ride home :D
-
I mapped it, my school is 14.6 miles away, 26 minutes in a car.
Hey I might get some friends if I go to school in a huge truck.
-
Chaps, I reckon it's not going to be a very nice conversation from here on end..
So perhaps it's best if you guys leave it at that.
I must say Austin.. "hoping he dies so I can take over...", Really.. what kind of awful thing is that to say.. or even think.
This is why I'm glad that in our country, you have to be 18 before you get your license. If you think sick and weird stuff like this, your mind is probably not grown up enough yet to go out there with a ton of steel at the speeds you're allowed to drive on, cause that is really terrible, I have to be honest...
Teenagers, specially in the first few teen years are simply not in charge of their own body and mind yet.. you can't help that, it's just hormones and stuff.. But sometimes that makes us do stupid things at that age. And no matter how mature anyone thinks he or she is, we all get/had that.. And driving around with those kind of vehicles, well.. you never know when your hormones decide to make you push the envelope just a bit too far and makes you lose the bigger picture... And then it's not a truck, but a weapon..
Anyway..
Please keep it nice and friendly.
Fred
-
Exactly what I was trying to say Fred. You really do have a way with words. I think it's crazy to think that kids in america are driving around in cars. A car is a mechanical machine that deserves a mature attitude.
One of the main causes of deaths on the road is young teenages thinking they're invincible in they're supped up cars and trucks.
Sorry, but I think Fred has hit the nail on the head. Most kids do NOT have a mature attitude and especially when someone says something like Austin did - it's just sick and twisted. Judging from past experiences and without being nasty or offensive, I really don't think Austin is ready to be driving.
I'm saying no more.
-
Yet I have been driving since I was 2?
-
Maybe they should be banned, apart from cycles, until they are 21 to help save the world which they are going to have to live in?
-
yet other people are driving at 15 and don't have problems, although we don't have to pass a test until we are 16.
-
Yet I have been driving since I was 2?
Sorry, I don't believe that for one minute.
-
ok since I was 5, I used to steer, dad would work the pedals, I have been driving by myself since I was 11 probably.
-

The dodgems in the fairground don't count though, do they?
-
No they do not, I am talking an actual state registered vehicle...
-
You are honestly saying that at 11 years old you were taking the car out yourself? On the public highway? At 11 yrs old?
-
The dodgems in the fairground don't count though, do they?
Lmao that's funny!! Nice one Stu! ;D :D
-
Since Adam is a mean little jealous person, this topic is locked.
-
You are honestly saying that at 11 years old you were taking the car out yourself? On the public highway? At 11 yrs old?
incorrect, he means he has been driving around his home, i've been driving since i was 4, solo since around 10 or 11 like austin, i dont drive on the road though
-
I never drove illegally stu, I can drive solo on my property, or anyone elses, if it is not owned by the state, county, or city.
