Which of the Poseidon films do you perfer?
-
Its got to be the original one, follow ons are rarely as good as the first.
-
i like the new one its more clear then the first one
-
Haven't seen both... :-[
-
The new ones great. I don't know why but I cna never get over the poor picture of older movies.
-
I liked the first one, (I haven't seen the second one). But I heard it was good!
-
The new Poseidon is alright, but, I found it a bit too far fetched to be honest, running around like headless chickens, reversing the bow thrusters and all that, made me scream with laughter!!!! hahahaha
Jack.
-
I prefer the original to be honest. :-\
-
I've seen the new one but never old one. I've been trying to look for The Poseidon Adventure in stores but haven't been lucky.

Exactly. And the fact that they tied in a love story with it. How original. ::)

Sounds a bit like the Titanic 1997 movie to me ::)
Jack.

If it's an American movie, it's male-cow doo-doo... ;D
-

I agree, but I hope you are not saying that in a racist kind of way. ;)
-
I think American movies in general blow bottom.. ;D
(they are so predictable)...
-
To be clear: I think American movies in general blow bottom.. ;D
(they are so predictable)...
Hehe...You got that right! ;D Now those British movies...Marvelous.
-

The love story needs to be there. It's the only way to get Spambot to watch it too. How many Spambot you think would have watched titanic if it was just a bunch of guys trying to save them self?
-
I really should rectify my earlier comment: there are quite a few good American movies..
I guess I've seen a bit too many Heroes and Happy Endings... ;D
-
I prefer the original because I haven't seen the second!!
-
Thats an honest answer Mike. :P
-
The newest movie, obviously. why? well the ship looks much better, better graphics, better story just everything is better.
maritiem

just because of the modern day effects makes the second film better. but the original is still a classic :)

Mine is the Poseidon of 2006. It is a modern ship that is mostly designed to show it is like the RMS Queen Mary 2. I saw videos on YouTube about the 2006 Poseidon Movie and it's great! My vot is on that for good :)
-
Too bad that I haven't seen any of those movies, what a shame!
Canada, can you add a 3rd option "Haven't seen both" into your poll?
Already done, sorry it took so long I haven't been on the fourm since my March Break began.
-
I remember this debate from about a year or so ago. The general concensus was that the recent remake is so technically appaling that anyone with a remote interest in ships should be appalled.
-Bow thrusters running after its capsized- the engine/generators are still operational.
-Thrusters move water from one side to the other and not into or out of the thruster tunnel as depicted (ie turning the switch from port to starboard would change the direction of flow but it would not cause a vacumn in the tunnel)
-I don't know but I suspect you can't undo a padlock and walk into the thruster tunnel just like that.
-Oil film on the top of the water at the bottom (top!) of the atium- doesn't form like that shown.
-Everyone electrocuted in the disco except Emmy Rossum (thankfully!)? How terribly convenient.
-The ship turned back onto its keel before sliding under
-The RaDar didn't een pick up the tsunami approaching.
I only saw it once so the above list may not be exhaustive. I used the DVD to protect my desk from coffee cups.
-
Having only heard about those flicks, I wondered how a ship that size could be in water shallow enough to support a tsunami at a destructive height.
As for seeing it on RADAR, again the water would have to be shoaling.
At sea, a tsunami one meter high would be a monster.

Don't forget Lucky Larry! ;D

You, Sir, make a good point.

In the film it's a wall of water 90ft high, which would show up, surely? If it was close enough to the epicentre of a seaquake, then could it not form a water wall that high. I know what you're saying about the surface disruption decreasing with the depth of water.
I still think we need to call it an appaling film and leave it at that.
Don't forget Lucky Larry! ;D
Which one was he? Was he the one who wanted to drown himself and then changed his mind when the sea tried to do it for him?
-
I think you're all forgetting something here....
Its a film, anything can happen ::)
On planet film physics and technology are a lot different to here ;) :D

Exactly... :(
I'm not suggesting that it should have been made as a documentary as that would be silly, but making it a LITTLE realistic would have been a good idea, I think.
The characters were more developed in Poseidon Adventure with some really rather good actors. Poseidon had whatshisname and Emmy Rossum (pretty, but can't act) and err that's it...

Because it would've been a documentary about an event that never happened..... ::)
But I agree they should of added a tad of realism somewhere.........but hey its only a film at least it was entertaining, well I say that............. :P

You know the point I'm making
I honestly say- with the exception of Titanic and Bore of the Worlds (Tom Cruise for Christsake!) that this was the worst film ever >:(

Bore of the Worlds? Never heard of it.

Bore of the Worlds? Never heard of it.
WAR of the worlds. Sorry- it sounds the same in English. And BORE is more appropriate.

Haha...(I couldn't resist)

Mr Firestar, that is one of the few genuinely funny things I have seen here ;D
And it is pretty accurate too

Hehe...thanks. :)
-
War of the Worlds was OK I thought, except the end was a real anticlimax, much like the book
Titanic was good, It was interesting and showed us just how horrible the sinking was
Just my opinions, If you disagree feel free to keep it to yourself ;)
