Hello everyone, it's "that time" again. It is up to you to choose what ship I am going to model in the event that the Wave Commander isn't accepted. Rules include:
- Blueprints are preferred, in the event that there aren't any, I will model a lookalike.
- Must be an actual ship, I can't model your fantasy ship that's 700M long.
- I need reference material (Pictures etc)
- Lastly, please no catamarans...
It will be up to you guys to decide. I will have voting on this also. In the event that there is a tie or not enough votes, I will choose the vessel myself.
It's up to you to decide, don't make me choose!
-
well when you say easy what about a small cruise ship like an older vessel such as the INSPIRATION or

How do you get pics to show up
-
Well, First, they WONT show up from your C:\ drive. Upload them to an image sharing site such as photobucket (www.photobucket.com) then, on photobucket, look for a link called IMG code. Copy that and paste that here!
-
when posting, go to additional options- attach, then it's allways easier to attach an image that is on your computer..
-
ah thanks for the help guys
-
Firestar,
If you're upto it, I can provide you with info for the Pride of Rotterdam. Of course I have plenty of exterior and interior pics, plus you can find layouts on the web.
It isn't hard to model, if you've mastered the bow. The rest is pretty much square and slab sided.
-
I have been told by one of my friends that if I dumped one of my projects (Volgo Balt, or SSUS) that I can get a smaller ship (Like a very small vessel) begun and completed, in time for the game, quicker than I could finish one of the projects. Please, I would like to know what ship (boat more like it) I should do, and what project I shoudl drop. If I get no responses, I will make up what project I dump, and what boat I start.
-
DON'T drop SSUS
-
Ok, VB1, SSUS0. I want to do the USS Bainbridge.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/06/USS_Bainbridge_tows_the_lifeboat_of_the_Maersk_Alabama.jpg
But since she is a naval ship, that wont happen. And she is too large.
-
Well...Shane, if you like - Maybe I could help you with Volga Bolt, so you can concentrate on SS United States and your other new project?
Jack :)
-
Nice boat Diamant! I really like that.
Russ
-
Look out if that boat isn't taken in a few days I might just steal it. ;D
I too am on the prowl for a new boat.
-
Or maybe a nice ship, like the Jumbo Spirit:
It is smaller than the Jumbo Javelin, a whole lot smaller.
-
No, that's too difficult & boring for Shane.
How about the worlds unique ship Ostrea? She was built in 1980 as a special porpose ship only for doing one specific project. And when the project was done, she was scraped in mid 80's as the she had no job after that.
She had a П - shaped hul & 4 azipods.
what was she used for?
-
Thanks guys, thanks for the offer Jack, but Volgo Balt gives a lot of trouble, and I don't think that trying to fix her at this point would be very smart. I might use that first boat Diamant. Matt, that boat is almost exactly like the Jumbo Javelin. What are we trying to achieve in this game-variety, so I don't think so. I was almost thinking a classical yacht, or something. I almost went for the Wilhelm Gustloff, but decided against it. Small boats are gold for what I want people! ;D I really like that boat Diamant posted, I might in fact do it, I just wish I had more of something we don't have in the game, that people are dying for! ;D
-
How about a mid sized New York ferry since we dont really have a bow loading ferry
Justa thought good luck!
Matt
They have a smaller version too that is the 179 passenger one and there is also a 79 passenger one I can get lots of pics for you ;) Also there is one my father works on which is a bit boxier, I like the one above more  ;)
-
I might, she reminds me a bit of the water taxi and RJ though. ;)
-
BUt this is Bow loading ;) Here is the smaller one
(http://i43.tinypic.com/2vbmt80.jpg)
They are quite nice, welll designed
-
Maybe. What do you guys think? Should I do this?
Or this?
If no one gives me a decision, I will decide by myself.
-
The yellow one the top is like the P6 We have ferries but... you get my point  ;)
-
I think I am going to go for the Wave Commander. Just because I have blueprints and everything that make it so much easier. :P
-
Grrr look on their website, I'll look on it for you haha, it is quite easy :2thumbs: hold on...
http://www.nywatertaxi.com/boats/boats-copy/ (http://www.nywatertaxi.com/boats/boats-copy/)
Hmm im sure you can find the manufacturer somewhere :P
-
:P Lucky You diamant, im sure he'll make the ferry later
-
Here is the first render of the boat. Sorry Matt, it was just not going to happen. Without blueprints it is very difficult.
-
Haha...that is nothing.
-
Hmmm I made a model of it, not the bst but it was my first
-
Has anyone noticed that these were already modeled and in just in the New York environment in Ship Simulator 2006. :-\
-
Ok, I will make a new topic after this update.
-
Thanks Diamant, will do. I also posted a new topic here (http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,14642.new.html#new).
-
why don't you model this faroese trawler?
http://www.rock.fo/ny/images/Sk%C3%A1laberg.jpg
it's name is Skálaberg, I believe it's 70 meters long but I don't remember how wide it is atm.
-
Everyone, this topic IS open for discussion, I edited it today, so please don't yell at Anfinn.
I do like Anfinn's submission...
-
As I told you in PM - lots of ships with proper info: http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,16400.0.html

Hey Matt did you know that in SS06 there is one of those Ships when you go in Mission Editor or Senario Editor
I think you should Model The USCG BERTHOLF She is the Newest USCG Ship and she is stationed in Alemeda,CA Which is about 20 min. away from me
http://www.uscg.mil/pacarea/cgcBertholf/
This is not a Normal Cutter its Bigger and it holds 2 Blackhawk Helicopters thats how big the hanger is
She is the only one of its class too
-
Any ship used by the Coast Guard is not a very probable vessel, for obvious reasons.
-
Well Vstep made a Coast Guard Cutter and they dont seem to have any problems
-
Well, they're an actual company that makes actual software to train people in the Royal Dutch Navy, they look a little better asking for blueprints and specs than a random person. Also, I don't know if I like that ship. And if we already have a cutter, than why make another?
-
Well No thats not a Normal Cutter, the one in SSE and Pro is a High endurence Cutter 3XX feet long while that Is a National Security Cutter 418 ft. long and Faster and Twice as Wide
-
Whoops, I didn't see that!
EDIT: Not so sure about those, maybe I'd do the second one, maybe. I really really like Anfinn's though.
The truth is guys, what I'd really like to do is a tanker or icebreaker, but, we already have a tanker, and in the next SS, I'm not sure if there will be an icebreaker. Besides, Goax is working on one!
-
Shane your looking for a vessel to model?

As Anfinn took the first one, the second one is still waiting...

A dinnerboat perhaps?
-
A dinnerboat perhaps?
Matt, if you're familiar with the add-on creating guidelines, do you know what does the "mission worthy ship" means?
-
Shane your looking for a vessel to model?
Uh, you read the first post in the topic, right?
Nah, I don't like that vessel. I'm almost surely going to end up doing Anfinn's ship unless someone posts something better.
-
Matt, if you're familiar with the add-on creating guidelines, do you know what does the "mission worthy ship" means?
Sorry Wave :-\
And Yes I did Shane, but it could have been one of them newbies that raised it for no reason :P
-
"« Last Edit: Today at 00:45:00 by Firestar »"
And the fact that Anfinn was the one who raised it...
-
Well I wont lie, I'm a little upset.
I was going to create an Underway Replenishment Vessel, but I found out VSTEP already has a model for it in one of their simulations...
I'm open to, yet again, more suggestions.
I'm also interested in an offshore platform supply vessel.
-
How about this ship:

:sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy:

Looks very interesting, I'm thinking of doing a passenger vessel.
It's very safe to say that my next vessel will be a cruise ship built for cold areas, probably based off of the MS Explorer, which sank a few years ago.
-

Are you fooling us (or better to say, ME!) around? Everytime the requested type of ship appears, you quickly changing mind to another. :P
BTW, you haven't even viewed the attached pdf's.

Well I have no idea what I want to do, I mean, every vessel lacks some sort of reference, I hate when people post ONE picture and go
modl dis plz
I mean, I'd love to do all of the ships people post me but I don't the name of some of these ships and such.
I am however, interested in modeling the ship groennegaard posted.

-
Weird, that link doesn't work for me. Picture instead?
-
There're more than 50 ships with GA plans, photos & other infos... How much you willing to pay me?
-
I think it's SAFE to say I've made my final decisions for the next two ships I am going to model for the hopes of the game.
[EDITED]
Still deciding I think.
-
Ok, it's safe to decide now.
I can promise one thing:
There is going to be a Reefer ship to be modeled by me.

Was that Firestar #3 or Firestar #57, with whom I was talking yesterday regarding that CSV Skandi Carla?
How many Firestars are there? ???
-
Shh!!
That's still being worked on, don't worry!
-
I don't think that CSV will turn out well because in that pdf you have only detailed ship's profile view & plan of hull, without the superstructure's plan.
Here's the better I found - AHTS-icebreaker:
-
Everyone...
There's been a slight change of plans.
;D
Wave Music, do you have any vessels that have an actual hull body plan with them?
Similar to this:

-
Oh, didn't see. Yeah, they're nice.
-
Does anyone have any blueprints to any Dover - Calais Ferries? (Preferring P&O)?
-
(http://www.kostermarin.se/res/Default/image011.jpg)
Got loads of pics, been to the bridge some times, and I know quite mutch about it
its 25m long 9m wide, a lovely vessel!! tops 25kn and takes 270 passengers
can get pics of it in most angels, just ask :)
-
What about blueprints, Tomaten?
-

I have a werry bad or atleast not th best one for PoC.
-
What ship would that be? Also, feel free to post them on here.
-
PoC=Pride of Calais ;)
-
Ok, do you mind posting the blueprints?
-
No I just found them on the internet and here is an RoRo with a good blueprint instead.
If you don't model her then I do that instead ;)
The PoC: http://www.poferriesenthusiasts.co.uk/fleet/pocalais/index.html
Another good RoRo with real bluprints:
http://www.boregroup.com/bore/images.nsf/files/833AC3E7C8703574C225723E0037D6F1/$file/Seagard.pdf
-
Well, I'm particularly interested in the PoC blueprints, since I wouldn't have to get modeling permission if I modeled her.

Koster ferryes, all of them are nice :) I have taken them from Strömstad many times!
