I got a wikipedia account and found a couple inaccuracies in their Titanic article and wanted to know how to edit and article.

I can't find it on their Titanic article.

Oh you know what, It says editing is locked by new members until April 29, 2009 due to vandalism. Does it say that on yours?

Oh, Well I just ended up posting in the Talk section. The problem was, They got Titanic's length all wrong. It wasn't 882' 6". (Though many think so) Back at the TRMA it is common knowledge that it was actually 882' 9". Wanna see my post? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:RMS_Titanic#Titanic.27s_Length At the VERY bottom. Tell me what you think of my username. EDIT: oh well they don't tell you but my username is TSS Titanic (Triple-Screw Steamer) Titanic

At what temperature? 7
If the length was measured at say freezing point and again on a summer's day in Blfast when it was 75F, how much difference would there be?
Which bit of Titanic was measured?
What measuring equipment was used?
Was it properly calibrated? (e.g tape measures stretch when used)
On what dates were these different measurements made?
All of these data are needed before anyone can claim to know the "correct" length, surely?
-
Terry,
From what point to what point? The end of the flag when stretched out?
-
Exactly.
That's why I asked

I guess I read that different...
Was this before or after they painted it?
-
You get the point, obviously! ;D
-
Yeah I think so. ;D
Who knows how accurate measuring tools where in 1912.
-
Being a guy, I would think you understand "shrinkage" in cold water...
("No..Titanic isn't allways this small...") ;D
Good move by Wikepedia to control the edits.. :)

ROFL!!!
There is a problem, Titanic is a Spambot. That is why we refer to her as her...
I guess Jumbo must be a guy with that retractable thruster...

I used to be told that too. But its not like people are out there to screw up Wikipedia. In fact, More people are looking at IMPROVING Wikipedia rather than vandalizing it.

You tell my teacher that, knowing them its probably all they do is sit at home editing it. ;D

Or maybe they spend time vandalizing the next unit! ;D

Firestar, how do you know that that information is incorrect? It happened 100 years ago! People belive different things about what happened and think other peoples accounts on wikipedia are wrong. So its best to keep away from Titanic pages.
