There are now 29486 total members, as at 1715 today. Will VStep be giving a special present to the 30,000th member to join?
-
It'd be funny if they did. :D
-
Like buying the 1,000,000th Mini?
-
He he yeah
-
Hehe.. on the one hand, it seems nice to do such a thing..
But on the other hand.. why would member #30.000 deserve a present any more than any of the other members that are allready registered or will follow after him/her.. Seems unfair.. But maybe that's just me. ;D
Fred
-
Maybe they should give us all a pesent!
-
They did, recently.. the Javelin.. people forget to soon.. ;D :P
-
Who says member 30,000 will ever post or be active anyway?

That is a good point, we are all equal here.
Who says member 30,000 will ever post or be active anyway?
Another good point, most members dont seem to be active nowadays, still, the active ones are all nice :)
-
Have we ever had a real spammer here? A troll?
-

There are ex-members out there, that crossed the line. There always will be people who are out to cause trouble. Best not mention those cases, I think. ;)

Wow I didnt know that, must have been before my time... :)
-
Well, it's not always clear to everyone, if something happens, since things get removed too, when it's off limits and such.
And yeah, some cases that came to mind, where perhaps before you registered. :)
-
Yeah. Maybe they stopped because Im here ;D (joke)
-
If so, then the staff owes you thanks, since handling such things is not fun, I can tell you. ;) ;D
-
Sometimes a Moderator spots it very quickly and no-one else is even aware...
-
*remembers the OLD forums...*
-
where are these 30 000 btw? I have never seen any big online list here :P

He he yeah, I can imagine dealing with spammers and such being rather arduous (Forgive me for not being able to spell that word :))
-

Im a bit confused by that aswell
-
Look at the URL: that's the 30,000th member.
-
No it isnt, theres only 29575 members
-
Look at the URL: that's the 30,000th member.
The number increases daily, read the first post!
-
29486 Is the number of members you say?
Useing my magnificent brain I calculate this:
x = 30,000
y = 29486
The forumula is: x - y
That equals

514 members needed to join.
Thats not a small amount, y'now people. Maybe in Summer 2010 we could reach that amount as many new people will buy Ship sim 2010 and register on the forums.
I don't think we could reach 30,000 until then... but depends how many ppl buy ship sim and how many ppl who buy ship sim have internet access. ;)
* Edit
reading the posts of MH1 and RMSGB above, I have used a better genius brain like mine to calculate the fact that we could actually reach 30,000 at the end of the year!
-
It's actually 29578 now, so you need to re-engage the brain and work it out again..... 422
-
Male-Spambot ratio 78.3:1
That's a bit off the international average...
-
He he, I have never seen any Spambot here
-
I've seen someone called Becky on here, and also Chrystine, but that's about it
-
There was another one that used to come on Multiplayer now and then....I can't remember her name to be honest. It will probably come to me in a few minutes. (I'll edit my post).
Jack.

I think Becky is a guy, says so on their profile. is chrystine a girl? I thought he was a guy. Help us out please becky and Chrystine
-
Try reading their introductory and other posts. Chrystine speaks of her husband.
Season is called Chantal...
-
Really, That makes me feel quite stupid. Well, the things you learn....
-
Can't really think of any others... But thats why the ratio is to 1 :P.
-
there were over 30,000 when I posted that...

Just try the link you posted, it is nothing to do with the number of members (which is still below 30,000) but the personal information of a member called Bedrock?
-
Hi Mike.
I think that as Bedrock is member number 30000, that's what made Astin elieve that there were 30000 members.
(In the link it has U:30000, where U is the members number).
But I don't know if that truly means that 30,000 people had registered.

Hi Terry, I hink we currently have 29 620 members at the moment. If you click on members at the top bar, on that members page it says ''viewing members 1 to 30 (of 29620)''
So that must mean there is 29620 members. Hope this helps,
Regards, RMSGB
-
I suspect what happens is that Bedrock is actually the 30,000th member to register but this includes those who have left/been banned/died or whatever so the 29,6xx means the number of actual members active or not?
-
I guess so but only about 100 of us are actually active on the forum and post regularly....

29623 when I checked just now. But the U:30000 link means that Bedrock was the 30000th person to be registered.
Of course, some will have been test-runs when the forum was being set up, some will have been duplicates when members have deleted one account and then re-registered and so on. Then, 29623 is the current row count in the MEMBERS table of the forum. It looks like it is pretty standard SQL databse underneath, and that would be the way that it is calculated.
So, Bedrock was indeed the 30,000th member to register, even though we have less members! 8)
-
A comment on the number of registered versus active members:
The fact that a member has never posted does not necessarily mean that he is not actively using the simulator.
The CMMs receive many unacceptable missions from members who have post counts of zero. Our PMs to them are never acknowledged, probably because they never bother to log onto the forum after registering. The regular emails probably are caught by spam filters, or he has not provided a valid address.
We also receive many junk missions with a blank user name, indicating that the user has never registered.

And now it all makes sense, thnks for that peice of info Terry, So we indeed do have 30000 members, even if we only have 29623! ;D

Yep.
Only in Marmite-World does 29,623 = 30,000
-

-

Everyone, regardless of langauge, Marmite tendencies, length of legs, hair colour / amount, etc is included. See above for Tecchie stuff.
PS I remember you when you were the Doctor.

As the number has already reached 30,000 there is no point in further comment!!
