Are the posible to start a norwegian forum in norwegian languvits?
Er det noen som er inntresert i å ha ett forum på norsk?
Are someone intesting to have a forum on norwegian ?
Er det norke brukere av shipsim 2006 og 2008 som er innresert
og da lage norske oppdrag og norske båter / skip
Are that some norvegian users af ss 2006 and 2008 some are inntrested
in to make norwegian mission and norwegian boat and skips?

Hello TJK!
Right now I do not think that there are enough Norwegians on the forum to set up a Norwegian forum. However, it might be possible to set up a Scandinavian forum. You are welcome to create a vote on this topic.

There are already quite a few Scandinavian members, all I see are little Norway, Sweden and Denmark (and the occassional Finland) flags everywhere!
Der er allerede en hel få Nordisk medlemmer , alt hva jeg kan se er liten Norge , Sverige og Danmark ( og det occassional Finland ) flagg over det hele!

hehe ;D

I'm a strong supporter of the scandinavian languages so I would love to see a part of this forum dedicated to those languages, and maybe some of you english speaking people might learn some Real language skills! :P
Since I'm swedish I understand most norwegian and danish, that's the great thing about Scandinavia: We all understand each other :D
But I do see the difficulty in the issue, there maybe are not enough people to populate both the english And the scandinavian parts of the forum.

A new ship simulator site is on it's way. This one is for Norwegian players (also Scandinavians) of Ship Simulator. The site will be found at www.shipsim.no (http://www.shipsim.no) when the domain is ready.
I donate my time to make a Norwegian ship simulator site, so I hope this is not taken as an advertisement since 100% of it is related to this game. I would like to cooperate with VSTEP about this new website if possible. :D

Et Norsk forum hadde vært bra. Men også Norsk Mission og Havner. Men også Norske skip og Ferger spesielt.
-
Greetings,
I love the idea of different forums of the ship-sim.
However,it would be great to have an english translation of what will be written thet to,than we can follow what lives on these forums to.
I know it might be a big job to translate all the topics, but maybe you can find some volunteers to make this happen.
This idea is for all the shipsim forums, which come out in the future.I will surf between them,to look what going on in some other country's.

Marc

Ingen vits i et norsk forum! Da er det bedre med et skandinavisk forum. Vi forstår hverandre bra
No use for a Norwegian forum, but maybe a Scandinavian forum would work! We understand eachother quite well!
Hvor mange skandinaver er det på dette forumet?
How many scandinavians are there on this forum?

Hi Marc
Isnt this just a question of having a scandinavian speaking moderator? You already have Groennegaard as Global Moderator. Now I don't know how you have organized yourselves but I doubt you have translated all 1156 (at this moment) posts in German forum to English to let all moderators follow the topics. (Correct me if I am wrong)
I am sure that if anything interesting appears or needs moderation, the moderator with the language skill will do any effort to explain the problem to the rest of the moderators, if he/she does not have the power/goodwill to moderate by him/herself.
I hope that I don't step on anybody's toes, that is not my intent. I am a forum moderator myself in a gaming clan with almost all European languages. We have Finish corner, Danish corner etc, and in my experience it is not a problem at all.
-
Greetings,
At the time the german forum started,i was not thinking about translating this german language.I was to busy to start this new forum,by putting the topics on for the NVDG-group.
So time later,it came up in my mind, and some german moderators, translate it in english, when it's importent for the whole forum.
I think,if someone can translate this norsk language,we can al follow what's going on there.I'm also sure that our scandinavian members, will help with this work. When they have some time.
Maybe this is a bit over our head, but i think it has a value for the forum.

I dont think its a good idea, if you would split up the forum for any nationality at the end you will have a huge forum containing mostly unreachable information for a lot of people because of the language barrier, its best to keep one big forum and to enforce the english language in all communication.
-
Quite to the contrary, I do think it would be a great idea to split the forum by language, following exactly the same reasoning. With an English only forum, you miss a huge amount of contributions from experienced people who are not at ease with written English.
If one would follow the line of enforcing English, I would ask what our German friends would think of that, and also why rebuff legitimate aspirations of Scandinavian friends? He who wants to understand can ask for a translation or just learns a new language. I dont think it takes anything away from an international forum, and fully support a Scandinavian (sub?)-forum.

Luc

I think it's better to build a community of ship simulator web sites spread over the whole world where each of them use their own language and own forum.
I got one site up and running and the forum is not in much use, even if the main site is getting plenty of visits every day. :P
We had this one: http://www.shipsim.net/ (which looks pretty offline)
Now we got this one: http://www.shipsim.no (especially for Norwegian Ship Simulator users)...
and we can have:
www.shipsim.se
www.shipsim.uk
www.shipsim.dk
www.shipsim.de... and so on. :)
This will spread the words about Ship Simulator more locally and it may even have an influence on the sale of the game.
Other major computer games got their fan sites and this game can have it too. ;)

Here is a de one! :P

Helt klart en bra ide med ett skandinavisk forum.
In English: Having a Scandinavian forum would absolutely be a good idea.
-
Please remember that this is an English forum, and even though the Norwegians have a special interest in this particular discussion, all posts must be written in English.
Thanks :)

IF people would start posting here in every language, the whole forum would be a mess, your trying to build a international community and have every nationality have its own forum isnt a good idea to do this, most people speak English anyway and this is a Simulator, it attracts a certain fan base, mostly a high educated fan base.
I am Dutch and i can speak English and some German, for the rest i can say some Greek words (how to order a beer and such) and i know how to say "i dont eat p*ssy for breakfast!" in Swedish, because i have some friend who are Swedes and Danes and so on. So if i was looking for a bug on the forum and this particular bug was only discussed in a Norwegian part of the forum at that time i cant read it.
-
Hiya all :)
This is kind of a difficult subject I believe, to presume that most people speak English is sort of 'jumping the gun' a little ;)
I guess some people would feel left out if they can't speak English well, or at all. Personally, I wouldn't like to feel like that, but that's me ;)
I guess it depends on how viable the case here is, to create seperate forums for every language may be asking a little 'too much', but other languages could be supported. This would depend on the popularity of creating such an option ;)
Just my personal opinion of course :D
Regards.
DJM.

I don't really think that we need a Norwegian/Scandinavian forum because i think most Scandinavians can write and speak English....at least Norwegians should since English is an language we start learning when we are like....7 years old?
I also think the situation is the same in Sweden and Denmark...correct me if i am wrong ;)

I don't know when we start to learn but I think they start teaching English in DK when the kids are 9-10 years old... ;)
But this doesn't count the older generation. I think my dad had only one year of English lessons when he was 13. Even though he caught up later, I don't think we can assume that such a large part of Scandinavians speak or write English good enough to contribute with their opinions. However, I think lots of information will be overlooked if we spilt the forum into too many seperate forums for every language.

Hello, ;)
There are forums where players speaking various languages share their experiences throughout sub-forums. Polyglot people can bring interesting pieces of info from a particular sub-forum to another one.
Exactly like it happens, here and now, between the English and the German forums.
I am a Belgian, can read Dutch, German, English, French and understand enough Italian. Having participated in different international panels, I am also convinced that everybody would gain from a forum offering other languages than English. Too many people remain silent because of their language, be it they being too young and/or yet enough educated.
To preserve the wanted order and stability, avoiding the forum becoming a mess, of course other sub-forums would need to be created, just as in German today: Proof of it is its interestingly managed topics, the tone (the mood?) of this German part. And also, how they can defend "their" forum.
Also, the common ground of the buyers of Simulation, the fan base, is very diverse (age, nationality, education, regrettably not enough feminine, ...) and surely not that English would be the primary or even the secondary language of the players. It is probably more an affinity to ships and sea than participation in some kind of smart linguistic globalization body?
But the main point in favor of various languages would be the possibility of attracting players to the sim, enabling them to express their desires. Also, I think that, underlying the concept of forum (latin?), is a wish to include people, not to exclude them.
I guess some people would feel left out if they can't speak English well, or at all. Personally, I wouldn't like to feel like that, but that's me ;)
That is nice, but perhaps not shared by everyone: Suffice to see the reactions of English-only speaking (or German-only) when they meet a post they dont understand!
But, as [RWP]DJM said, just my personal opinion of course :D I could add that it would be difficult to assess the popularity of such options before having created them.
Anyhow, most Europeans have indeed English as a secondary language (not me), and for the other ones, basta 8).

Luc

Hi!
I have said it before in this discussion - please remember that this is still an English forum, and even though the Norwegians have a special interest in this particular discussion, all posts must be written in English.

This is actually a great idea, maybe not a forum but at least a sticky topic in Norwegian. I know for a fact that many Norwegians would like to ask questions or talk about the game, but they are not comfortable with the English language. Of course there must be a moderator who understands Norwegian.
Our nation has always been very much related to the sea and shipping, I guess that's why there are a lot of us in here and interested in Ship Simulator. I think we deserve a Norwegian thread or forum ;)
And I forgot the Swedes and the Danes too, it's almost the same language..
-
I did have some Norwegians friends that taught me a few words. I shouldn't say those few words on here though. Naughty bunch of friends I have...
I support any language forum. For forum I mean it is just a matter of clicking add new forum...
I don't know if they would translate the whole game though.
-
Any finnish people here playing? This place is full of norwegian people :o All norwegians ship freaks? ;D
-
Many norwegians are interested in ships and boats since they are a part of our life here in Norway ;)

Heh, visit the UK if you like rain ;)
-
I have been in the UK once..took the lovely ship M/S Jupiter from Bergen to Newcastle and then stayed in Scarborough for a week :)
It didn't rain when I was there so maybe i were lucky?
On the other side I have seen some news on tv this summer and I must say that the UK has beaten Bergen in amount of rain this year :D
Maybe we are going a little off topic here now :D
-
Nice :D
You have it right about UK rain this year, it's been 'a little wetter' than usual ;)
-
Maybe you should have collected some of the rain and sent it down to Greece to put out some fires :D

I often wonder why some people are like that >:(. Kinda scary really :-\

Must be something really wrong with people who do such stuff.
All of those people should have been stuffed away on a deserted island

Thanks, I didn't know about www.shipsim.no which is even better than a Norwegian forum here. Cool site that is, nice design :)
Must be a very fresh forum, only 90 posts so far. But this is good for those who can not write in English.
It says the patch will be released August 31'st, I wonder if they got it confirmed ;)
